Strengths: The sharpest and clearest picture in cable TV mode / Great sound / Easy to use menu system
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I was looking to replace my old 13" Color TV in the bedroom. So I started to look at the various 15" to 23" HD/LCD TV offered today. Please note that what you see on the display in the stores is not typical of what you will see at home. They display the TV's in HD mode running a DVD. Also note that all other conventional TV's in my house have very clear pictures on all channels.

First I went with a $300.00 Magnavox 15" LCD, the TV picture was fuzzy, so I returned it. Second I tried a $400.00 Sylvania 20" LCD, this also had a fuzzy picture and cheep controller, so I returned it. I then decided to cross the 500.00 cost budget and went with A 23" Samsung $790.00 HD/LCD Top of the Line model. Well to my surprise this unit also had poor picture quality, so I returned it. I was just about ready to give up on LCD / HD / TV's when I found the Philips 15PF5120/28 for $298.00. I thought one more try. Well the Philips was a WINNER. As soon as I hooked it up you could see the difference. Finally a Clear, Sharp, Vivid picture with excellent Color and Sound. Save yourself all the trouble buy the Philips First.

Strengths: - Picture clarity is outstanding - The sound is just as advertised...simply amazing
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: This is my second purchase of a Philips LCD TV (also own a Panasonic LCD and a 50" Sony LCD). Without doubt, this set is equal to the more expensive Sony! The picture clarity is crisp and the colors are brilliant. However, please be aware that you have to manually turn on the set the first time (button on the lower right-hand side). I kept trying with the remote and finally called Philips customer support. This trivial task is NOT mentioned in the setup manual.

Strengths: Price - purchased at Sam's Club. Lots of inputs, even component and DVI. HDTV ready. Higher resolution than other sets of the same size
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: Bought this LCD TV for my daughter for a Christmas present for her bedroom. It is hooked to standard cable and it tunes well and the picture quality is decent - much better than on other 15" sets that I looked at. DVDs look great too. I would like one for my room!
