Strengths: FM Transmitter is strong, able to use it all around the house
Weaknesses: Antenna needs to be outside for best signal for receiver
Summary: 2006-01-11 22:20:10 I recently bought the Starmate Replay Receiver with car kit, but I wanted to use it at home as well. The home kit enbales the starmate signal throughout my house. The RCA connector gives my stereo great sound! The wires are also adequate enough for me without buying an extension. Highly recommended!

Strengths: Like most home kits, easy to setup and use. Nothing complicated.
Weaknesses: None noted
Summary: Nothing special...just a straight forward home kit. Really only necessary if you plan to hook up your unit to a home or office stereo (since Sirius music can be streamed through your computer online). This is a simple mounting kit..."cradle" type set up is generally better (cradle allows for instant removal, rather than unplugging of various wires from side of unit).

Strengths: generally easy to use and setup (read instructions!)
Weaknesses: Antenna not that great, cannot easily "grab" signals indoors, need to play with it for a while
Summary: This kit basically does what it's supposed to: allow you to listen to Sirius Radio at home. It's easy to setup, simply plug the pieces in and you're good to go.
The hardest part of the whole thing is setting up your antenna. I aimed it out my window based on my location in the USA (see your Sirius Radio manual) and I still had trouble picking up a good signal. So you probably need to put it outside if you have trouble (I didn't have an easy way to put it outside based on the location of the room in my house). So, after getting annoyed by the signal dropping often, I ended up picking up the Terk "outdoor" antenna and actually use it inside -- it works fine and better than the antenna that comes with the home kit. The terk also allows you to angle it in weird ways (which I did -- it's aiming at my ceiling and works fine.
I think this kit should be sold with the radio, it's so silly that we have to pay extra for it.

Strengths: Good reception at my house and also at work where regular reception is null
Weaknesses: cumberson to take between home and office; need to buy two
Summary: Overall this product is good. I get good reception at my house and also at work where regular reception is null. It might be a better idea to include a battery operated option so that I can have the home unit at home which charges battery, and then take it to work so that I don't have to carry the cables around.

Strengths: Very easy to set up and use, I ran it through my home entertainment system without any problems.
Weaknesses: Reception inside the home
Summary: As I stated above, I ran this through my home entertainment system, turned the radio on, tuned it to 88.1 and had satelite radio in the downstairs of my home! Although I was fortunate enough to have a window near by I still could only get one bar of signal but it works with that so I don't have to mount the antenna outside. This is a must have for people with short commutes to work.

Strengths: Easy to setup and use
Weaknesses: Indoor signal receipt (when not near a window)
Summary: This is a must have if you own a Starmate Replay Satellite Radio. This kit allows you to listen to satellite radio at home or at work.
The kit is easy to "install" -- power cord, antenna, RCA cables for stereo and base for radio.
I use this kit at work without the RCA cables. I just plug my headphones directly into the Starmate radio to listen.
If you plan to place the antenna indoors you will need to have it near a window. Sirius satellites also move throughout the day, so you may need to slightly adjust you antenna throughout the day. You can avoid this if you can place the antenna outside or on the roof.
If you are lucky enough to be near a terrestrial repeater, the included antenna will also receive a signal from it.

Strengths: Easy to install and the bonus with the home kit satellite antenna is that any radio around the house ,set at the 88.1 frequency, can play what is on the starmate radio. This is really cool!
Weaknesses: The only weakness that I have encountered is satellite antenna sometimes loses it's signal and needs repositioning. The stand could be nicer.
Summary: The overall it is an excellent home kit. I have mine going through the surround sound ,audio plugs are eaay to plug in, and it sounds great. Like I said above in the strenghts it is very cool with the satellite antenna to recieve such a strong signal that you can use it on any reciever around the house. I would recommend the home kit as must if you have the Sirius starmate radio!
