Strengths: Great product at a great price!
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I have actually owned two of these laptops. The first one I sold to my dad. I went right out and bought another one. The first one I owned had a Sempron processor in it. It was great! But, I wanted more. So, I went out and bought one with a Turion processor in it. Man, this machine is great! Honestly, for the money, you won't find a better deal. I highly recommend this product! I would buy another one in a heart beat.

Strengths: low price; nice-looking; wide-screen; sexy; lightweight
Weaknesses: cpu(Celeron)
Summary: low price: I bought this laptop late May 2006 and it only cost $419 (also came with a free hp psc 1410 printer).
nice-looking:
At a system weight of 5.2 pounds, the V2000 is a light value notebook, including a beautful 14 widescreen display, a good set of speakers, and well-placed ports.
Performance:
The performance of V2000 is in average cause of its celeron cpu, but if you update the celeron cpu to P-M cpu and 256M memory to 1g memory, it works great. the 6 cell battery lasting 3 hours 26 minutes.
If you're looking for a sexy, light notebook with solid performance and inexpensive mobility, look no further. The Compaq Presario V2000 is your answer.

Strengths: Light, small good looking. That and all the other good laptop specific specs. Cept battery life 2h avg of all 3 max What a screen!
Weaknesses: Screen has a thin film that makes it look good.Gives of glare and reflections in bright likes. Poorly built.
Summary: So you know where I'm coming from my is the ML-28 1.6ghz, (slowest) 768MB ram 4200rpm 60gb hd dvd/cd-rw media ports. This is a great consider it cost $700 brand new. It has the perfect amount of power to run word media player internet at the same time. Plays BF1942 (game) at highest resolution and BFV at medium. It cannot handle Call of Duty two except at low. Its not ready for intensive graphic stuff. I can't do videos, but a faster version should cruise. Photoshop is fine. Has an issue opening the folder with 1GB of photos. I wonder why. Good looking, light, thin. Ok battery life. Not built well. This is eight months later and my headphone port is starting to fail. Also it bends when you pick up on one side which I say is shock absorbing for if it is dropped. Great for multimedia. If you need a better built one and better battery life get an hp compaq nx6125 my brother has it and it is fabulous and starting at 900$ with a 3yr warranty, X300 Radeon Mobility Graphics, WOW! what a steal.

Strengths: Light, long battery life, looks nice, inexpensive, solidly built.
Weaknesses: I wish I configured a more powerful laptop. Unfortunately the upgrades to a better processor such as the pentium-M dramatically increase the price.
Summary: 2006-02-25 17:41:57 I highly recommend getting the 12-cell battery for only $39. It gives you 7-8 hours running time and 4 hours dvd playback. I also recommend getting the graphics for Pentium-M. This will give you card readers which are very useful especially if you have a digital camera. Don't forget to add the truebright screen for $25 if you build to order. It is definitely a worthwhile feature. It is easier on the eyes and the screen is just more lively and vidid. If you get the celeron-m processor, don't expect to do anything major on the laptop besides word processing, surfing, and dvd playback. It can run older generation games though. Also the laptop needs at least 512mb ram to have it run at acceptable speeds.

Strengths: Very light, very affordable, 12 cell battery is a plus!
Weaknesses: Affordability only goes so far. Unfortunately if you want the lowest price, you have to opt for less.
Summary: The machine is very nice. Solidly built and looks very nice. I bought the 12-cell battery for an extra $39 which is a big plus. That gives about 7-8 hours of running time and about 4 hours of dvd playback. Definitely worth it.

Strengths: Small, relatively light. Speeds up with more RAM.
Weaknesses: Only comes with 256MB RAM unless you want to configure more, which I would suggest you do. No DVD burner but I only needed the CD burner.
Summary: I really like this laptop. At the time I was just trying to save a few dollars by buying on the cheap, so no DVDRW just CDRW. Also only 256 Mb RAM. Ran pretty fast out of the box, but I noticed an overall improvement when I added another 256Mb chip. I have only used Celeron processors and was not impressed. I had no idea the Celeron M's were so MUCH better! I am very happy with this computer, and use it for daily transport to and from work and for web surfing at lunch. My only real complaint is it took several weeks to build then get shipped. Otherwise and excellent deal for the money!

Strengths: I am so happy with this laptop I felt that I had to spread the word. Its affordable first off, paid ~$750. It has good battery life ~2 1/2 hr stock. The keyboard layout is PERFECT!
Weaknesses: Audio ports are in the front...believe this was fixed with later models. Also touchpad scroll does not work with firefox...not sure whos fault that is.
Summary: Buy this laptop....Compaq makes a great product. Some advice would be to buy a Centrino or Turion....this is a must for any laptop that plans on going anywhere.

Strengths: Light weight, powerful and a beautiful screen
Weaknesses: Battery life
Summary: I bought this laptop late November 2005 and it has worked perfect for me. I did change two things on it though, the operating system from XP Home to XP Pro and upgraded the Ram from 512MB to 768MB because it shares memory with the ATI graphics card. I would recommend this laptop to any who is looking for something fairly small and powerful. Mine has the Dual Layer DVD-RW, 1.8ghz Turion 64-bit processor(going with the 1.6ghz 25 watt processor will save battery life) and the brightview high def screen, these are all extra features which I would highly recommend chipping in for.

Strengths: Even though my friends have computers with 2.0Ghz processors, my V2000 (Celeron M) still beats theirs when opening applications and burning CDs.
Weaknesses: Battery it comes with died within 4 months to the point where at 100%, it has a 20 minute battery life. Definitely should've gotten the 12 cell battery.
Summary: Dropped it about 5-6 times from about 4 feet (on accident) and didn't damage a thing. Used this laptop for 20 hours everyday for the entire year, only thing damaged is battery.

Strengths: widescreen, friendly-designed, light and compact
Weaknesses: common cpu
Summary: To make this notebook quick, we have to update our memory. 512mb is far from enough because cpu is low and eat a lot of the memory. However, I like this laptop very much. It is the best laptop I can own with so cheap price. Everything works great.

Very poor and small life
Strengths: Design
Weaknesses: Heats a lot. The useful life only of 4 months: the system board burned. It was bought in U.S.A. and guarantee did not allow to fix in Brazil.
Summary: Never more I will buy a HP Compaq notebook. I know they start a recall but my serial number is not included in it.
This problem with guarantee is very serios. We need a international guarantee for a notebook.

Strengths: Centrino Technology
Weaknesses: Build Quality
Summary: The Centrino Technonogy
makes this an excellent buy. Upgraded to the 12cell battery for $39.00 gets a full 4hrs playing movies with no problem. Used it on a coast to coast last week.
I had the V2000Z with Turion chip and Broadcom wireless, Centrino blows both away. The wireless reception strength is much better as well as battery life.
The only problem I have with units is the build quality is not up to its brother the HP DV1000.
Deal involved 6 separate Rebates from Office Depot for unit and printer.
If they all arrived , great Value
