Strengths: Lightscribe -- works well using Nero 7 and Surething
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2006-03-30 16:58:25 The HP DVD +R is the first brand I've tried so can't compare to any other brand. Both the Lightscribe feature and burning using Nero 7 works well in my BenQ 1655 drive.

Update --- after the first and only successful burn -- I now have 5 coasters -- I can't yet tell if the problem is with the media or Nero or my BenQ. The Lightscribe part works so that would say my BenQ works -- I think the problem is with Nero -- if I can resolve, I'll update

Update -- again --- the problem was me and not Nero or the HP Lightscribe media. I selected an incorrect setup in Nero which expected a DVD RW disc instead of a DVD+R disc. After correcting this, the burns using this media were all successful.

Strengths: Appears to be reliable quality burns
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: Picked this up to try with my new Samsung Lightscribe burner as I wanted to start out with the latest generation (ver 1.2) which this is. So far everything has burned flawlessly and I have no reason to think this will not continue. Excellent lightscribe image.

Strengths: Unique labeling method catches your eye, professional appearance.
Weaknesses: pricing, length of time to produce a "label".
Summary: I finally jumped on a low cost deal for a LightScribe burner after checking out some sale prices on media at Staples and Office Max. My needs were to make a very nice DVD of my daughter's ice skating competition with a professional look to the labeling of the disk. This did the job nicely.

3 Star ReviewPretty Good Deal
Strengths: No bad disks Labeling surface looks good
Weaknesses: Expensive
Summary: Burn 10 disks with MyDvd; no bad disks. I'm happy with the labeling surface. I would have wanted to buy the Verbatim lightscribe DVDs from newegg with rebate for a better price. However, I was in a pinch so I had to pay more.

Strengths: HP Brand
Weaknesses: Pricey when compared to non LightScribe technology even on sale.
Summary: We could not wait to buy a LS burner - too many problems with labels. No problems at all with these disks. Not a coaster in a one. Since cost is quite a bit more than conventional disks, would save for your most important memories, etc. now that we have tried we can't wait to make new copies of our family movies, etc. Easy to use, professional looking quality. My teenage son is producing his own video and can't wait to use to finalize. Now, if more companies would manufacture to bring the price down further, that would be even better.

Strengths: Sales price is a good buy -- Lightscribe works
Weaknesses: Label making time is long
Summary: 2006-04-15 08:34:36 The lightscribe works well, I like the label results -- took about 27 minutes to make.

Results of media test were not as good as I have seen for other DVD media. However, the DVDs I’ve burned work on my two DVD players just fine.

Strengths: good DVD+R
Weaknesses: Lightscribe is not the brightest
Summary: I have burned a few of these discs with a Benq burner. All of them burned smoothly at full speed. I even burned on at 16X and had no problem at all. But the lightscribe side is kind of dull. I compared the label with a Verbatim lightscribe CDR. The CDR's label is a little more vivid.

Strengths: Lightscribe burns well using Roxio EZ Media Creator or Nero Burning Rom. price is right.
Weaknesses: Wish it supported color pictures.
Summary: I like the way you can turn over the disk and burn your label. Lightscribe is great for labeling your important disk and the cost is about the same as regular DVD+R disk. A great product for computer users.

Strengths: great looking labels. No ink, stickers, permanent markers required.
Weaknesses: cost of lightscribe media is high. Requires a lightscribe enabled cd/dvd writer.
Summary: The HP LightScribe DVD+R has a coating on top which allows lightscribe enabled hardware to create labels using the same laser that writes data on the DVD.

Label creating softwares have lots of templates that allow you to create great looking labels.

the label will have a pale yellow background due the lightscribe coating.

Overall I have seen great results and am very happy with my purchase.
