Strengths: Slim design; free standing; ready to go right out of the box; good ability to set temperature; can remove shelves if needed to accomodate wider bottles; easily accomodates long bottles
Weaknesses: Not quite cabinet height; odd lock placement(it's all the way on the ground making it awkward to keep the keys in if you actually put this on the floor)
Summary: Overall quite satisfied with this product. Although another reviewer found it to be noisy, I find that the unit makes at best a low hum (like when the refrigerator is humming...it's just the internal fan). Unless your house is exceptionally quiet, you really don't hear it. Cools well but if storing white and red together, I'd recommend putting the reds lower; the unit cools from the top down so the bottom shelves seem a touch warmer than those up top. Didn't have trouble accommodating the larger girth bottles on the bottom; slightly tighter on top. An excellent first choice; appearance is stylishly modern and putting on the handle is quick and easy but the unit looks complete without as well. Yet another fantastic purchase from Target of all places.

Avanti EWC-12 Wine Cooler
Strengths: Cools well. No vibration to disturb wine sediment. Thin design for easy storage.
Weaknesses: Little noisy
Summary: Overall semi-satisfied with this product. It cools well, however is a bit noisy. In addition, larger bottles (girth) struggle to fit in. Although it arrived dented & scratched from the Vendor, it still cools well. In addition, the vendor re-imbursed shipping charges. Does the job.

Strengths: Easy to assemble handle and change direction door opens. Does keep the temperature about 53 degrees once adjusted. Unit is very quiet.
Weaknesses: Light switch and temperature controls are in the back inside corner of the unit so must remove the bottles to adjust the temperature and light. Door lock is on the bottom rather than the top.
Summary: I purchased a refrigerator/freezer thermometer to verify the setting I prefer for my wine. I'd prefer a digital reader within the unit but once adjusted, the unit holds the temperature. Changing the direction the door opens is fairly simple and it holds 12 bottles fairly well. I thought I would hear a constant noise of some sort but haven't noticed anything from the unit. I also like the lock on the door but would prefer it on the top rather than the bottom since it sits on the floor. It's very quiet. I would recommend purchasing it.

Strengths: -Light
-Looks nice
-Locks
Weaknesses: -Made in China
-Lock at bottom
Summary: Overall, good item. Larger bottles don't fit as easily, but they do fit. And I thought the light goes on/off with the door, but it's just a switch you turn on/off.

Strengths: Unit is very quiet and the temperature is right on target for the three settings for red, white, and rose wines.
Weaknesses: The handle of the cooler is a rather flimsy plastic.
Summary: While the unit is quiet and works as indicated, only 12 of the more common, elongated wine bottles will fit into the cooler at one time. The more classic, "champagne" shaped bottles bump up the shelving thereby preventing another bottle being inserted into the shelving above. Because I am using it mainly for red wines, the bottle shape is not an issue.

Strengths: Great wine cooler for the price.
Weaknesses: No weaknesses.
Summary: I bought this cooler as a birthday gift for a friend who has a large wine collection. She loves it. It fits right in as a piece of furniture, is quiet and was delivered in one piece. Great deal for the price.

Strengths: Compact, quiet (very slight fan noise), efficient cooling based on settings.
Weaknesses: Cooling efficiency suceptible to ambient temperature.
Summary: I purchased the less expensive, all-black version of the EWC12 (EWC120B), which is essentially the same unit, without the door handle and lock (the included Instruction Manual covers both...EWC12/EWC120B). The reason for my purchase was to chill English-styled ales to the proper serving temperature of 13C/55F, which cannot be accomplished with the refrigerator used to store foodstuff (not if I wish to maintain my health). Thus far, the Avanti has performed very well, albeit with a caveat: The unit's ability to cool is directly affected by the ambient temperature (the manual states it should be located where the temperature is between 72-78F), which I've recently experienced on a few unusually warm days (summer may prove to be a challenge). I've located the unit in an open space, next to my standard refrigerator, but I believe for those who may wish to install the unit in either their basement or a cupboard, it should perform without much difficulty, even on warmer days. I have also found there to be approximately a 2F temperature variance between the upper and lower shelves of the unit, so please keep this in mind when storing your reds and whites. Thus far, I am very satisfied with the Avanti and hope it will continue to provide properly chilled ales, even during the late-summer months.
