Strengths: Super fast doing everything. Very cool Machine.
Weaknesses: Fan is a little noisy, depending on the processor usage.
Summary: My wife spoiled me with one of these for Christmas. I usually only buy the mid-range Macs, so I wasn't prepared for what this thing can do. It has 500GB HD and 3GB of Ram. I can render an hour long video in iDVD and burn it to a disk in about 20-25 minutes. It was taking me 8 hours on my first gen iMac. The internal speaker is very weak and my next purchase will be a surround system for it. This is probably going to be the best of the old chip set Macs and will serve me well for many years. If price is not a factor, I'd recommend one of these to anyone.

Strengths: Speed, consitency, power.
Weaknesses: with the new intel processor it tends to be a bit slow when returning to the machine after leaving it on sleep
Summary: Very good machine over all. I recommend it to anyone

I have this machine at work which i use to design, develop and mantain the company's website. Before i had a pc, it was the worst moment of my life.. the poor machine would crash all the time.. it consummed a ton of ram and didnt even use it properly.

Not the case with this machine. Highly Recommended.

Strengths: Big, bold, Fast, FAST, fast, did I mention fast?
Weaknesses: it weights a lot! Definitely not a laptop!
Summary: I love it. I was waiting in October of 2005 for a possible price drop, then I got tired of waiting and got online to order the G5 Dual, and found they'd come out with a Quad! I'd wished for a Quad since the days of the old original PowerPC's. (Now I'm wishing for a Mac with 16 or 32 CPU!) But I always want the best, most recent and fastest. I went big. I bought the Quad with 4 Gig's of RAM, 4x more than I'd ever had before, and with dual 500 MB Hard drives (each bigger than I'd ever had, and the first time I had 2 built into my machine from the start.)

I love it, it wonderful. Oh, and I also blew more money and got the 30" monitor, and I love it too. I can now watch movies that look better than they do on the 42 inch Plasma Sony I have, because they have better resolution on the 30"!!

It's expensive, but well worth it. Definitely 5 stars!!!!!

AikiDavid

PS, I don't think it's noisy, it's much quieter than my old G4 desktop that runs at 767 MHz, and this runs at 2.5 GHz x 4 which means about 10 GHz in reality!!!!!!!!!!

Strengths: Stability and speed
Weaknesses: The CPUs never go 100% ;)
Summary: Blazing! Or simply amazing!!

The Quad Core G5 just does the work! Once loaded with some RAM, this machine is simply great to work with.

I have dedicated mine to work only, so no software or freeware or shareware I don't need and the results are here... SPEED!

I was pondering getting this machine or waiting for the new MacTel towers but I have no regrets whatsoever.

By the time the professional line comes out, the G5 Quad Core will still kick some serious azz!

No need to wait... Go get one!!

Strengths: Looks awesome, runs better, fast as anything i've ever driven, snappy in every way.
Weaknesses: It likes ram(big surprise). I have 2 GB, not enough with like 10 other big apps running.
Summary: 2006-03-14 17:34:28 Had the original G5 ordered, decided to wait another month for the dual/quad processors. Worth the wait. The price ofthe 23" flat screens dropped making up the difference of the price jump for going to the quad. Nice!

With the Evil Intel inside that will now be the standard, I am happy with my stable, fast and state of the art mac for the next 2 years at least. Give the software developers time to catch up to Apples latest surprise. The longevity of use on this machine will pay dividends.
