EZ Media adapter SMC WAA-G
Strengths: 802.11G and etherned connectivity, small footprint, nice aluminum case and display, easy setup, connects with mosts server software
Weaknesses: No alpha search capabilty from remote control, it misreads some MP3 tags reporting characters like Ÿ?B.
Summary: I got this adapter because of the 802.11G and WAP. It connects fine with my Linksys WRT54GS router at decent range with WAP security. Setup was easy and it connects with most server software, Musicmatch, Twonkyvision. It also looks nice and small in the aluminum case and it has a nice display.
The annoying problem is that it misreads some MP3 tags reporting characters like Ÿ?B,Ÿ?T, instead of the title, artist, etc. SMC tech support is outsourced to India and is as useless as warts on a frog. It seems that the firmware needs some revision to deal with this problem. I hope their engineers work on a better firmware version.
It would be great if it had alpha search capability with the remote control, like the Netgear MP101. For a large number of songs is not easy to navigate with up and down keys.
