Strengths: a burner like many other with a bonus though: 2 face plates, one baige, one black to better suit your estetical needs when installing in computer cases of different colours.
Weaknesses: as i said before, a burner like many others. -/+DVD-RW burning could use a little improvemet, hopefully, Lite-On will provide an improved firmware in the future.
Summary: bargain performer. If you don't burn dvdrw that often, this is just what the doctor ordered. I would recommend this burner to my friends and customers and would also buy it again.

Strengths: 16x, Dual Layer, Black or White Bezel
Weaknesses: Does not have Lightscribe
Summary: I bought this drive as my second DVD burner, my first being an external 2x HP. This installed quickly and works just as expected. My external would burn coasters from time to time, however this drive has yet to fail. I've been using 8x media and it seems to handle them fine. So far, no real downsides to this drive.

Strengths: Quiet, burn with any type of media. Come with black and beige front bezels and nero software.
Weaknesses: will not work good with dvd-r
Summary: This is a rebadged model of the Lite-on SHW-1635S. Flash update firmware, and it shows as a lite-on burner. Very good burner, quiet, burns at 16x using Nero using TDK Costco disks. It comes with a black and beige front bezels and Oem Nero software. Highly recommended.

Strengths: Can be used with nearly every type of media and has good write quality/read speeds. It comes with black and beige front bezels and DVD software. Many software/support options.
Weaknesses: Lesser quality media does not produce good quality results.
Summary: I already own a LiteOn SHW-1635S and just bought another for another PC. Overall, this is a good drive with good specs that can handle all basic CD/DVD burning tasks. LiteOn continues to improve its drives, and this one is another step in the right direction.

Strengths: Quiet! Reliable! I put it into my LITEON DVD recorder LVW-5005a to replace the original drive. It works just fine.
Weaknesses: Not burning CDs when worked with LITEON DVD recorder LVW-5005a. I think it is a compatibility issue.
Summary: I like Liteon DVD burners. They are reliable. I don't know why their DVD recorder not as good as their DVD burner. Their DVD recorders always fail when I used too many times without turn off. I found out when I replace the drive with their DVD burner, the problem getting lower now.

Summary: Dual layer drive handles many different types of media. I also like the extra bezel set that is included in the package. It goes nicely with either black or beige case. Drive and software are easy to install.

Weaknesses: CD tray open a bit slow for my taste.
Summary: Very easy to install. Comes with Nero Burning ROM Suite and PowerDVD software. Works great. No complaints here for the price. Reliable burn every time with brand name blank medias.

Weaknesses: NA
Summary: The latest DVD writer from Lite-On is a naughty little minx. It teases me with its specification, which has the key headline figure of DVD+R 16x. Naturally it supports both plus and minus formats, as well as dual layer, and there's no escaping the fact that this brand is a good name to have on my computer.
So far so good, the specification isn't the be all and end all of a DVD writer, and many models will work above and beyond the nominal speed of the media, but here too the drive lets the side down. It takes nearly nine minutes to burn a full DVD using DVD+R media, compared to six minutes for my old BenQ.

Strengths: With the new latest firmware, it burns all the media types (I tried old crappy free-after-rebate Khypermedia DVD-s) fast and without any problems. DL media works like charm.
Weaknesses: None that I can think of.
Summary: Got it for $13 AR from OfficeMax and updated firmware. Works great. Even the cheap old 2.4x media is recirded reliably at 4x speed. Double Layer works great. As this drive supports setting of a book bit (or whatever it's called) to mark the recorded disk as DVD-ROM, the recordings are compatible with most DVD players. Great drive!!!

Additional faceplate.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: It is excellent for the price and works all the media I tried. No problems so far. Worth more than I paid. Especially second faceplate is very important to use in different systems.

Strengths: Writes to every brand dvd I throw At it.
Weaknesses: Doesn't have litescribe
Summary: It installed very easy. Windows recognized it without fail. I ripped 5 DVD right away with no errors. It comes with both black and beige face plates. Wonderful drive so far. I plan to give it a real workout.
