Strengths: Fast refresh rates, Great color, Lots of inputs
Weaknesses: Missing Digital HDMI input, PIP settings do not stay where you left them, Slow to change modes, inputs and resolutions.
Summary: This monitor does everything I wanted it to do. The only things I would add are the digital input and a programmable remote control. The remote control comes with presets but as with all non learning remotes it will not control all of the functions I need it to but since I use it as a computer monitor/TV I am usually setting just a few feet away and don't use the remote anyway!
The main complaints I have with this monitor is that when you make changes in settings they don't persist. For instance in the Picture in Picture settings when you change the inputs for video and audio they change but when you turn off the monitor (or if it goes to sleep when using as a monitor for computer) the PIP settings go back to default.
The other thing that could be improved but is not that big of an issue is the time it takes to change video inputs. When you change from say the Component inputs (HDTV) to the computer input (DB15) it takes several seconds and the "Input not detected" message pops up for about a second. After that it changes inputs and the screen comes to life. Not a real big deal but it could be improved.
I have it hooked up to a DirecTV HD receiver and I can say this monitor DOES HAVE A GREAT PICTURE. I do not have any troubles with brightness or contrast it works as it should. ZERO ghosting on games or video!
I am a consultant and see many different monitors and for around $500 you can't (at this time Feb 2006) get a better set up for the money!
