Strengths: Minimal learning curve, pays for itself
Weaknesses: none
Summary: After reading the "Quick users guide", it didn't take long to get the hang of using this. I have had mine for about 6 years now and it still performs like new. The ability to choose between standard or split point bits makes the drill doctor very useful. Considering the price of a quality drill bit this is a worthwhile investment.

Strengths: 118 & 135 degree sharpening, point splitting, quick learning curve
Weaknesses: A little dusty
Summary: I've mangled quite a few drills trying to sharpen them myself. The Drill Doctor should save me from having to buy any more drills for quite a while. I followed the directions in the manual, but I just didn't seem to get any better results than when I've sharpened by hand. Then I watched the DVD and saw what I was doing wrong. Drills are now almost as good as fresh from the factory. I was a little disappointed it doesn't trap the grindings better, but that's a minor quibble.

Strengths: Easy to operate, 118 and 135 degree options, standard and split point options
Weaknesses: none
Summary: 2007-05-01 17:24:00 DD500X works very well, I just watched the provided DVD for instructions, (I was too lazy to read the manual) and that was enough for having sharp drill bits. The tool fixes the bits with the alignment part on the side, then threads in the tool give appropriate angle for sharpening in the front. I don't have to buy bits anymore, all I have to do is sharpen them and they will be like new. It only takes 5 mins for me to sharpen a drill bit.

Strengths: Sharpens bits as advertised; handles 118 & 135 degree, and split point bits; easy to set up and use
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I was ready to go after a brief review of the decent 30-page owners manual. It took 15 mins or so to sit down and look over the instructions. The drill doctor is reasonably self-explanatory and simple to operate. I was able to do a good job of sharpening a few if the more often-used bits in my set of jobber bits within minutes. A new cheap set of twist bits is $10 to $20, but I imagine that the drill doctor will let you keep your bits forever and always sharp which is important for clean, precision drilling.
