Strengths: hard drive and dvd disk drive work conpletely independant of one another which allows you to watch a recording while recording another program. manually set 30 recording levels. edit/create highlight.
Weaknesses: i found it necessary to follow the operating instructions as provided in the owners manual.
Summary: this is my second dvr. i originally bought a panasonic which is very intuitive in it's operation. i am very pleased with this pioneer and it's many features as described above. i prefer the pioneer 510h. i rate this recorder A+.

Strengths: This is an easy unit to use once you have made some DVD's with it. There are a lot of great features also. I like the manual time settings and the menus. The image quality has not disappointed!
Weaknesses: Need to spend some time in the manual to learn how to use all of the features, but overall easy learning curve
Summary: I would highly recommend this unit to anyone because I believe you get a lot of bang for the buck and of course the Pioneer name means quality and in that aspect they don't disappoint! The hard drive in this unit is a great additional piece of hardware to make an already incredible product better. I am extremely happy with this unit.

Strengths: 80 Gig Hard Drive. One touch recording.
Weaknesses: Complicated setup.
Summary: Absolutely great DVD recorder. One-touch feature for recording is a definate plus. Video output outstanding. Once it was finally setup correctly, everything has run fine. Fairly complicated initial setup that required having the owners manual in front of you to follow the steps. Not intuitive at all.
