Summary: My wife recently bought me the X-Rocker for my birthday... I'm a 27-year old gamer and she knew I was interested in similar chairs for gaming by the TV when friends come over, but when she couldnt find any "basic" ones she got me this one instead because it's "better" with speakers. And it definitely is! For watching movies, playing games on the TV, etc, this chair is extremely comfortable, well made, and the only time I have been *UN*comfortable in it was sitting cross-legged on it for an extended period of time, since my ankles pressed into one of the crossing supports near the front edge of the seat. I have a home theater so I don't have a need to hook up movies or console games to the chair, but using my Nintendo DS with the chair is absolutely fantastic. (Quick side note - you will need the older GBA SP headset adapter for the DS to work properly with this chair since the headphone->RCA plug does not sit flush in the DS's stock headphone jack due to a small recession beneath the plastic). Volume can be turned much higher than I would ever want to turn it, and while the Bass dial doesnt adjust the bass TOO much, it does to an extent and is somewhat noticable. It may be more noticable if you were listening to bass-heavy music or movies, though, and not the type of music I get from my specific games. The two speakers sound great, and the subwoofer in the chair really makes the X-Rocker stand out in my eyes. The only con I have with the chair is that it needs to be wired to it's power cable if you're using the speakers. And since I wanted to put my chair in the middle of the room, I ended up spending $3 on a 9' extension cord so that I could plug the chair in where I wanted it to go. Still, for times when you aren't using the speakers, just unplug it and move it anywhere to just use it as the comfortable chair that it is. I really wish this chair existed when I was back in college, because me and my housemates undoubtedly all would have owned our own to hook up in our living room. Is the X-Rocker a "necessity"? I dont think so for most home theater applications, altho I admit it would be nice to have a row of them set up so everyone watching a movie could all have sound built right into their seats. But if you want a place to plug in portable game systems, laptops, mp3 players, etc and also want a comfortable chair at the same time - or hey, if you just want to spend a little extra on a chair that will make you smile - I think the chair is a great pickup.
