3 Star ReviewBlack & Decker 3.6 Volt SmartDriver Compact Screwdriver - LI3000
Strengths: Small, Battery Life, Torque
Weaknesses: Bit storage, NO Torque Brake, No Manual Option
Summary: I have used this Screwdriver quite a bit over the last 30 days and have yet to recharge the battery. So, the battery life appears to be good. One noticable weakness is that you are only provided one bit adapter and have to select your favorite bits. The remaining bits do not have any type of storage or adapter provided. It is small and yet has lots of power for all of your screw driving needs. This can be a disadvantage, however, when using it for low torque needs such as a switch plate. The LI3000 does not have a torque brake to prevent over screwing and also does not provide an option to lock the shaft for manually finishing the job. Further complicating this issue is that the screwdriver is not variable speed. For sensitive applications, I end up using the LI3000 to gt the screw close to complete and then use a screwdriver to finish it off. I am reasonably pleased with this screwdriver but not purchase another one without improvements.

3 Star ReviewGreat, until the battery dies
Strengths: Convenient, powerful
Weaknesses: Replacement battery unavailable
Summary: I loved this tool until the battery would no longer take a charge. It served me well and frequently for three years, and should be good for many more. I have searched high and low for a new battery, from battery specialty stores to a Black and Decker outlet store. The old battery is easily removed, with clip-tab connections, and could be replaced in a couple of minutes. But the lack of a replacement makes this a rather expensive throw-away tool.

3 Star ReviewLi3000 gives new meaning to the term "twister"
Strengths: Small form factor, lasts long on a single charge, comes with lots of bits, wall mountable, high torque
Weaknesses: Reverse switch is on top vs a forward/reverse rocker switch. Needs higher speed option for long screws
Summary: So far so good, only had this for a week and

have used it on several household chores.

Still on the first battery charge after

lots of work. The small form factor

helps fit into corners and tight places.

On long screws, such as running the mounting screws

in or out on electrical outlets, it would

be nice to have a high(er) speed setting.

Only one of the four bit holder packs can

clip to the side of the base, so you

have to pick your 10 favorites tips and put

the other 30 in a drawer, and then remember

where you put them.

It takes a sliding of the direction switch

on top to change rotation direction. This

isn't a big deal unless you switch direction

frequently, like trying to get a screw started

at a certain angle, or sometimes with equipment

rack screws.

There is a noticeable 1/2 second delay from

when you squeeze the grip to when the bit/motor starts

to turn. I haven't figured out why this exists

but it's a bit concerning when trying to

turn screws in small increments.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with what you

get for the price.

If you're only buying one cordless screwdriver,

make sure you don't want multiple speeds

and an adjustable clutch before picking the Li3000.

If small form factor with high torque is what you

need, then this is a good product.

Strengths: Tiny but powerful little screwdriver. Can be used with cordless drill bits for small jobs. Goes like the Energizer Bunny! Fits easily in my large hands.
Weaknesses: Minor point: 40 accessies come is 4 strips of 10. Combersome to store/use these accessories as packages. Permanent 90 degree angle.
Summary: Initial charge takes 9 hours then 6 hours to recharge. Manual / paper says it will hold charge for up to 18 months. I have not run out of charge with my small projects --- that's a very good thing. Comes with a Lithium Ion Battery. Relatively inexpensive and can be part of a tool kit as it holds the charge for so long and the charge seems to last. Comes with 40 Accessories, Charging base, and Compact Screwdriver. Some specs: Voltage - 3.6 V, Revolutions/Min - 180 rpm, Torque - 48 in-lbs. Expensive at $39.99 plus tax hence the 4 star rating.

Strengths: Small, Good torque, Spindle lock, Holds charge a long time.
Weaknesses: Doesn't take double ended bits.
Summary: I can only compare this with the B&D VP750 that I have used for the last 5 years, and still have it.

The PivotDriver produces 180 rpm and 40-inch/lbs. of torque in forward and reverse, and has an automatic spindle lock.

The Smartdriver Produces 180 RPM and 48-inch/lbs of Torque and as far as I can tell has a Automatic spindle lock. I think the package said to put the switch in the middle position, but I can't rotate the shaft as long as the trigger isn't pulled.

I can tell that it has more power, and the battery doesn't have to be charged all the time. It also is about half the size. Fits in my back pocket without falling out.

The price is roughly the same for the two screwdrivers.

I prefer the SmartDriver over the PivotDriver.

The only complaint I have is that it will not take double ended bits.

Ever electric screwdriver I ever had, has taken double ended bits. 90% of the time I didn't need any other bits. Now 60% of the time I do.

I like it and would buy it again.

I think it is a very good screwdriver for what it is.

For bigger jobs I can use one of my 18 volt Drills.

Strengths: Lithium ion batteries hold charge for months
Weaknesses: Not as much torque as I would have liked.
Summary: These are decent units for what they cost. They're by no means a substitute for industrial-quality tools, but for the homeowner and casual tinkerer, this is a useful tool.

It comes with a lot of different bits, but the best part of it is that you can leave it in a drawer for many months after you charge it. When you need to use it, you can do so immediately since Li-ion batteries retain their charge well.

2 Star ReviewBlack & Decker LI3000
Strengths: Long Battery Life, Ready to go when you are, Plenty of bits
Weaknesses: Feels cheap, uncomfortable in my hand, no way to carry all the bits and driver to together
Summary: Well, I was expecting a great tool. This is not a great tool. Black & Decker must be targeting the female consumer. It just does not fit my hands well. The trigger is awkward to use. The tool just feels foreign when you place it in your hands. I believe the tool will perform well enough. But its ergonomic traits hold the product down.

Strengths: 40 screwdriving accessories included, good battery life
Weaknesses: only 1/4 of the included bits can be stored with the charger
Summary: This is a very good tool for the jobs I will use it for (think a versatile replacement to the multi-tip screwdriver in the junk drawer). I do not intend to use this as a replacement in any way for my 18V cordless drill. It is simply a cordless screwdriver. For that job, it is a well designed tool. My major gripe is that it can't store all 40 included accessories on the wall with the charger. Only 1 of 4 strips (10 accessories) can be stored on the holder. The holder is even able to be mounted to the right of left of the charger. Why not make the holder hold 2 strips and supply one for each side? Plan to find a spot to store the other 30 if you buy this tool.
