3 Star ReviewWas a great price. The Tech's got back to me real ...
Strengths: Was easy to install.
Weaknesses: No information on setting.
Summary: Was a great price. The Tech's got back to me real quick with the answers I that I asked for. I needed to order a Cat6 cable after the order, the Cat5 I had only picked up 10 MBPS. I am trying to get a faster seed off my DSL.

3 Star ReviewGood Value for the Money
Strengths: Value for the Price.
Weaknesses: Windows XP SP2 did not automatically detect the driver. The installation CD has more than one XP driver on it. So I simply picked one, and, fortunately, it worked
Summary: I bought this modem based on the posted comments and saw little risk in doing so because of the low price. My system is home-built, running an Intel P4, 3.06MHz processor, on a Gigabyte 848P Titan P4 Titan MB. It is about 3 years old and still runs flawlessly. The MB has an onboard Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 Gigabit Ethernet Controller. It is hardwired to a Lynksys WRT54G broadband router, which, in turn, connects to a Motorola SB5101 broadband cable modem. With the new network card, my download speed is actually marginally slower (about 13Mbps than what I've been getting with my onboard Marvell Yukon controller (~14Mbps), the upload speeds are almost identical (1.6Mbps). So, I'm not gaining any speed from this purchase, but I still recommend the card to anyone who currently has an older, 10Mbps card installed.

Strengths: Easy to install. Windows XP recognizes it immediately. The Startech has it's own driver on a floppy. But I'm not sure it would have made much difference from the one XP found for it. Fast NIC.
Weaknesses: Only one LED, quite hard to see at that.
Summary: I bought this Startech gigabit NIC to replace an older 100Mb ethernet card made by Cnet. It connects a rather old Dell Dimension 8200 to a D-Link router in a cable modem home network. Cat 6 ethernet cables are used throughout, and the throughput is consistently about 12 Mega bits per second.

I have been using this Startech for about a week now, and so far, not a single problem.

Strengths: Great price, easy to install, no problems so far, Lifetime Warranty.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: I purchased this product because of the price. It was the cheapest Gigabit Network Card I could find, but was a little concerned about a review I read somewhere about not getting it to connect at 1000Mbs. I was very surprised to find it comes packaged in a very nice retail box. It was really easy to install, just follow the directions. I don't think it even needed the driver disk, (not a CD as indicated on the box.) I have had no problems with the connection speed using a Cat 6 cable. This is a great choice if you're looking for Gigabit speed at a reasonable price.
