Strengths: Looks good, very sturdy, adjustable height, fits many of the older Samsung plasma displays
Weaknesses: Limited height, no shelves for home theater components, extremely heavy, no locking swivel, takes up a lot of space.
Summary: This is a very sturdy plasma TV stand, it would take a lot of force to knock it over. It looks very stylish, no doubt about it. The pneumatic function is cool -- there is no lock for the piston, it stays at the adjusted height based on striking a balance between the weight of the plasma TV and the upward force of the pneumatic piston. It looks very stylish and modern.
I would only recommend this if you can't wall-mount your plasma, and you don't have an entertainment center to place your TV on. This is only good for placing on the floor -- if you have an entertainment center already, get the smaller stands that come with the TV.
The pneuamtic piston takes up a lot of space behind the TV, so if you place the TV and stand up against a wall, there is almost 12" of space between the back of the TV and the wall.
It is also very heavy -- combined with the weight of the TV, it takes two strong people with good backs to move it. The TV swivels left to right, but there is no good way to lock it in place. So if you bump into it, it will swivel off center.
Because it takes up all the vertical space between the TV and the floor, you'll have to place your home theater components on a separate rack on the side. Although this might look good, it's a bit of a waste of space if you live in tight quarters.
Overall, I would only recommend it if you have a lot space to spare. It is very good quality and worth the $150 I paid for it, but make sure you're ok with all the drawbacks that come with it.
