Strengths: Steal for the price All kinds of inputs (Component, DVI, VGA, S-Video, RCA, Coax cavle) Bright colors Great contrast Clean menu and easy to use interface
Weaknesses: No HDMI input, but you do get HDMI to DVI converters TV came with a VGA cable but not DVI cable Remote is very bare bones and not very ergonomic
Summary: I purchased this TV on the Day after Thanksgiving at Circuit City for $499. I was a little skeptical about buying an unknown brand but I trusted a bunch of reviews online telling me that this was indeed a good TV.

I have not hooked up a HDTV tuner to it yet but have hooked up my DVD Player, Tivo and Xbox to it. DVD's look amazing in widescreen and Standard definition TV looks good too. Aspect ratio is easy to adjust for Standard def.

I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for good value for money. This TV beats the crap out of my buddy's branded plasma TV for which he paid enormous amounts of money

Strengths: Price is this TVs greatest strength. Good picture quality.
Weaknesses: Menu system takes getting used to.
Summary: It is easily $100+ under the price of comparable screens. The build and picture quality so far have been great. I am no expert on how good a picture is btu I have been using it as my primary TV and computer monitor and have been very pleased. If you walk into best buy and look at all the TVs and can barely tell why one is $500 more than the other then this is for you. If your a super picky videophile who knows how to tell 1080p vs 1080i this is not the set for you. But in comparison to other sets in the price range the specs here are great especialy the contrast ratio.

In general this screen works great, and is amazingly cheap! You cant beat the price/quality ratio available here. Comparable sets are all $700+ before shipping (usualy with lower contrast ratios (which is a bad thing)). I am thoroughly enjoying it and cant wait to hang it on my wall!

Strengths: multi-system for a very low price.
Weaknesses: Speakers are not detachable
Summary: Versatile multi-system, I bought this TV and checked its ability to work with 220V as well as PAL, SECAM and of course the advertised NTSC feeds and the switch was seamless and automatic - impressive!

I was impressed since I was looking for this type of functionality and the US manufacturers and retailers never advertise it (on the contrary, they hide it) and they also claim they dont know...

Strengths: Contrast Ratio is Excellent! Channel response time is great. I even like the sound quality.
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I am VERY please with this TV. I did a lot of research before buying and for $749 (Circuit City online) you can't beat the price. I compared this TV to similar TVs in the price range and found the picture quality, including contrast and color were superior to the Viewsonic 27". I have had this TV for about a month and cannot be happier. The thing I realized once I got this TV is after you read all of the reviews and compare TVs sids-by-side, when you get the TV hooked up and running, it looks great. I even compared it to the Sharp Aquios and did not notice a considerable difference in picture quality. I thought the Olevia actually looked better in the showroom. I highly reccomend this TV for anyone, no matter what your budget!!

Strengths: - Brightness, contrast, response - Looks great in PC mode - Dirt cheap compared with others
Weaknesses: - Remote - Only DVI instead of HDMI input
Summary: Bought $599 HVX 26" brand new from Fry's. Do not compare with the HVE since it is an older model and way different. I have looked at this TV side by side with a Sony, Samsung, Sharp and Viewsonic displaying same channels. After using the remote to set up color and contrast, I can tell the little difference is not worth the extra money I have to pay for other brand name models. For those who complain about the DVI cannot be used with PC, they better understand that the DVI is not a PC input. There is DVI-I, DVI-D and DVI-A and graphic card HDCP compatibilty and cable compatibility issue. The VGA is the PC input and also must be set at the right resolution which is very often is XGA (1024x768, 60Hz). I have a Panasonic LCD and it works the same way. Toshiba even warns about using the HDMI/DVI input as PC input could risk damaging the TV.

One thing I like about this TV is the capability to split screen in PC mode. My Panasonic cannot do that.

Strengths: Price and connectability
Weaknesses: sound is rather tinny and you cannot zoom a SD image presented in wide screen so that the top and bottom lines are gone.
Summary: This is a good LCD television, however, there are a few drawbacks with the weak sound and no HDMI connection. But what can you expect from a 26" tv purchased new from HHGregg for under $500.00?

Strengths: Picture, HDTV, Connections.
Weaknesses: All very minor and no real big ones
Summary: Great LCD. Picture is great and you can not find a better deal for all the features you get in this one. The remote is not super expensive but it works for what you need. I have a Harmony 360 remote so I only used it for a little while. The LCD has enough connections to make any A/V geek go crazy. Only downside is that it does not have optical or coaxial outs, but I run straight from my cable box to my surround sound so it was not a big deal. Xbox 360 is completely mind blowing now.

Strengths: high contrast ratio, quick response time, high brightness, high resolution, 16:9 format, 2 component connections, PC-VGA connection
Weaknesses: remote, blue light while unit is "off"
Summary: First, the bad. The remote is really cheap...but for the price that is a really minor weakness of this TV. Also, there is a blue light that comes on when the TV is "off". The TV is never really off, though. It's in sleep mode. But isn't it kind of backwards to have a light on when the TV is off?! Explain that one to me Syntax!

Now for the good. The picture on the TV is excellent. Look at the specs and you'll see it ranks up there with the best and most expensive LCDs you can get with regards to response time, resolution, and contrast ratio. I use it for XBox 360 and DVDs and both look absolutely fantastic on this TV. I will eventually hook this up to use as a computer monitor for video editing so I can't comment on the PC quality yet, but I'm sure it will suffice if it's anything like the performance I'm getting now.

Overall, you can not possibly beat this TV for the $499 I paid for it at CompUSA.

Strengths: Amazing picture in HD. My xbox360 never looked so good. Using it as a monitor is great since I can use PIP to watch TV and work at the same time.
Weaknesses: Wish DVI work better as a computer input. I settled for VGA, still a great picture and much easier to setup.
Summary: I tried for hours to configure power strip to match the 1366x768 for the DVI input but never was successful. I didn’t like the crunched view at 1280x1024 so I switch to VGA at 1280x768, hit the auto button on the remote and it gave me a nice crisp picture. I love watching TV and working on my computer with the PIP option. If you enable the PIP just hit the source button to select which source you want the sound to come from (great feature).

All in all this is my first LCD TV that I bought to use as a monitor. I was a little worried at first but after reading some news groups I saw that VGA was the way to go. I got my for $499 at CompUSA after some mail in rebates. I don't think their is a better TV out there right now for the price comparison.

Strengths: High resolution, bright screen, great picture quality. PIP and spilit screen features are very nice.
Weaknesses: The speakers are weak. The remote control could use better designs.
Summary: We are very satisfied with this TV. This is the top of the line among Olevia's 26 inch LCD TVs, and the 1200:1 contrast ratio sets it apart from the lower end models. We have some home videos that were taken in low light condition, which did not show very well on a regular computer LCD (400:1 contrast ratio), and on this TV, no problem seeing the details at all.

The screen has four modes, wide (16:9), regular (4:3), full (stretched), and split (side by side with two sources). The wide screen is great for watching DVD movies. Regular is the same aspect ratio as our old tube TVs. In this mode, the pictures are in the center of the screen with black areas on the left and right. The full mode streches the regular 4:3 to fill the entire screen. If we watch regular TV programs in the full mode, people on screen would appear shorter and fatter than normal. Not by much, though (imagine the "wheel of fortune" letter frames being square rather than rectangular). It's a little strange to begin with, but we quickly got used to it, and use the full mode all the time now.

The split screen mode is good, we can watch TV on the left half of the screen and play computer games on the right half of the screen, all at the same time! The speakers are not as good as those on our old Sony TV, but they are good enough.

If we use it as a computer monitor, it can take 1280x1024 resolution with no problem. I think this is higher than what's stated in the specifications.

My only complaint about this TV is its remote control. It is awkward to use. For example, the channel and volume buttons are all on the top left of the remote, and in order to have these buttons within easy reach of my fingers I have to shift the heaviest portion of the remote (where remotes are usually held) out of my hand or use two hands. Another example, in order to press the "enter" button after "source" and the arrow keys, I usually have to move my entire hand because my thumb can't easily swing from almost bottom left to almost top right.

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, contrast, and brightness. Superb value!!!
Weaknesses: Remote is somewhat basic and the menu system takes some time to get use to.
Summary: I ended up purchasing this hdtv on a black friday sale. After rebate my net cost is $430.00. The reception and picture quality are amazing. I have also hooked this up to a computer and it works quite well as a monitor. The bottom line is that there is no hdtv LCD on the market that comes close to the quality of this set. To find a better tv I would have had to spend 4 times what I spent on this unit. There are reasons that Syntax Olevia is now the 3rd largest LCD tv maker in the world. Quality, value, and a decent one year on site warranty too!

Strengths: Picture quality, Price, Look, 1 year on site warranty !!!
Weaknesses: Speakers are ok but not great.
Summary: I settled on this 26" becasue of price and size. Don't confuse the LT26HVX with the HVE version. At $750.00 shipped from PC Connection it is a Great TV for the price. The color and contrast are excellent. The speakers are ok but not great. At 1366 x 768 resolution and 1200:1 contrast nothing in it's price comes close to the picture quality when viewing a program at 1080i. The menu is a little funky and the remote is simple but no lighted keys.

I wish I could afford one for my pc monitor; the split screen and PIP would come in handy.

3 Star ReviewNice TV, Frustrating PC Monitor
Strengths: Very bright, beautiful picture
Weaknesses: Hard to setup as PC Monitor via DVI
Summary: I purchased this TV to be used as a PC monitor first, and a TV second. The 26" screen offers a lot of real estate to work with if you aren't sitting too close to the screen. I am ~3 feet away, and the native resolution looks good at that distance.

I had difficulty getting the monitor set up properly with WinXP via the DVI input. The monitor reported itself to windows as a 1280x1024 resolution and the desktop tried to autoscale to that rez (everything looks squashed vertically). In order to get clear text, I wanted 1:1 mapping to the 1366x768 native rez of the monitor. To get this, I had to use Powerstrip (free software download) to set up a custom monitor/timing for WinXP. Unfortunately, once you do that, the monitor kicks into 1080i mode and locks out the PIP function.

While I would highly recommend this model for use as a TV, it left much to be desired in the PC monitor department.

Strengths: Price, 16:9 HDTV, PC compatible, pricture quality,1 year on-site service, easy to set up
Weaknesses: remote control looks like cheap
Summary: I shopped around for an inexpensive LCD TV which I hope could be for my computer as well. I am glad I found this one. The picture quality is excellent. The response time is 8ms. I got this from circuit city under 550 (after rebate and instance saving). If you compare this LCD with expensive brand, you will be really happy with your decision. I have a 42 inch rear project TV which can’t compare with this one when watching movie. It’s great value!!!

Strengths: Brightbess, Contrast, Response time, true 16:9 screen, great price
Weaknesses: speaker, 1366x768 is odd
Summary: I have been looking for a LCD TV for a long time. Finally I bought this Olevia for $500 plus tax after rebate from Circuit City.

The overall performance is very good. Pictures are sharp clear. It could be better if Syntax can upgrade its speakers.

Another problem is when connecting to pc, I can not find a right resolution. 1366 is an odd number. My graphic card doesnot support that. Otherwise it would be perfect.

FInally, this is a HD ready TV. You have to buy a set-top box to receive HD programming.
