Strengths: Great price/value
Weaknesses: Nothing that I can think of
Summary: I recently acquired a Sony D-NEOO5BLUE portable CD player. It was a tremendous value at under $20! The best thing about it is that it plays regular CDs as well as MP3 CDs. I've thrown many different CD media verbatim, maxell, etc.) and so far, it has played all different types of CDs when attempting to play mp3 cds. Not too bad for under $20. This would make a great gift for you or someone else who isn't dying to run out and buy an mp3 player. It works well and can be found at very reasonable prices!

Strengths: good
Weaknesses: My only real complaint about the CD player itself, is that it doesn't seem too awefully sturdy.
Summary: just recently got this CD player, and overall I'm very happy with it. I didn't expect much from it because of the cheap price, but I'm happy to say this player proved to me that something can be cheap, and still work well.
I'll admit the headphones that come with it aren't very good. The sound quality they deliver is pretty bad, and I've never been fond of "in the ear" style headphones. Luckily for me, I had new stereo headphones delivered in the same order. Anyway, the quality of the CD player's sound is pretty good, and in my opinion, the battery life is great. I bought this player to replace my old broken GPX unit, and the batteries last at least twice as long in this player. The location of the batteries is somewhat odd (you put them in on the inside of the player, under the CD), but personally I like it. It helps maintain the sleek look of the outside of the unit.
My only real complaint about the CD player itself, is that it doesn't seem too awefully sturdy. It seems like the lid might come off somewhat easily if dropped, but I'm not planning on throwing it around, so it doesn't bother me much.
All in all, it's a great CD player, from a respectable name, for a good price.

Strengths: Light, Plays both regular CD and burned CD-R
Weaknesses: Does not come with an AC adaptor
Summary: I am very happy with its light weight. The sound quality is as expected as from a Sony. It plays both regular CD's and MP3 burned on CD-R's. (I heard some MP3 walkmans play only CD-R and not regular CD's, so this is a plus.) I thought it would come with an AC adaptor but it did not. According to the manual, the playing time is 11 hours using 2 alkaline AA batteries. I am running it on rechargeable batteries until I can find a cheap AC adaptor.

Strengths: Excellant Audio quality, playes MP3 from folders too. Folder navigation and file navigation. Numeric display for MP3 files. Uniue design of headphones. Light weight for both disc player and headphones.
Weaknesses: nothing that I really come across.
Summary: I have been using this product for 3 weeks. I love this. It very handy. You can buy some re-chargeable batteries while travelling. why to buy expensive MP3 players when you can get for less than $40

Strengths: Play mp3 music so there is no need to burn CD while listen more songs. This little guy can play hours of music using 2 AA batteries. Simple design, easy to use and very portable.
Weaknesses: It doesn't play some music CD's (not the mp3 ones). Does not play automatically when disc is inserted.
Summary: For $30-40, this portable mp3 player will play more songs than a 1Gb mp3 player. You can browse, group the songs as you like. I like it alot, period.

Its not a superb mp3 player for the price
Strengths: Price
Weaknesses: Poor quality material, buttons location, play back.
Summary: Thsi mp3 player is just an ordinary mp3 player. I had already a mp3 player by philips. I did not like the design and quality of this mp3 player, it is not as strong as my old mp3 player. I would rather prefer buttons on top instead of side. Play back is very slow and i also tried to play mp3 files which were stored in folders and it failed to play them. It plays mp3 files which are not in folders. No folder structure supported.
Inserting and removing batteris are not easy because batteries compartment cover is too close to open covered.

Old fashioned CD/MP3 player
Strengths: Very light. Plays standard CDs and MP3 CDs. Looks cool
Weaknesses: Buttons are a little awkward to press.
Last years technology. Flash memory based players are getting cheaper.
Summary: Bought this for $10 after rebate. This was a impulse buy based on the looks :)
It plays both standard CDs and MP3 CDs. I mainly use it with mp3 as a single CD
can fit over 100 songs easily. Plays well and sounds decent. No problems so
far. MP3 cds are very common in many asian countries and this will suit
the purpose without going for the memory based mp3 players.
Warranty is skimpy - only 90 days labor.

Strengths: Great price with good quality
Weaknesses: na
Summary: 1. I don't have to convert my entire old CD collection into MP3's.
2. I can burn around 7 hours of music onto 1 CD. Perfect for road trips, or in my case, I burn entire audio books onto one CD.
3. CD's are incredibly cheap.
4. I have an unlimited amount of storage on this MP3 player, because I can switch discs. Unlike Ipods or similar ones, once you have maxed out, that is it (you can't change the hard drive in an Ipod).
5. This thing is so inexpensive, I don't feel like I have to wear white gloves when using it. I bought 3 as gifts for my wife, Dad, and Father-in-law.
6. It's so easy, my Dad can use it. Though, I still have to burn the CD's for him. But I never expected him to know how to do that or plug in an Ipod and transfer tunes either.
7. If you get a wireless transmitter ($15-$35) you can play it in your car. I have had great success with this. Look for one that has a cigarette lighter adapter.
8. It takes double A batteries. Just use the rechargeables, and you're set. Or if you are on a road trip, just get another set on the road.

Strengths: Cute, Simple design,Plays both CD & MP3
Weaknesses: Sound capability is low.
Summary: 2006-10-03 15:35:05 I am impressed with this SONY CD player as I was looking for a CD player with MP3 playback. Quality of the CD player is pretty good. The location of the batteries is backside and it is somewhat odd and getting difficult to change. It is a sleek look of the outside. The quality of the CD player is very good but sound is a pretty bad . This is very useful for travelling as you can use headphones. Anyways, this is best for this decent price.
