Strengths: Piano Black Color, picture quality, size (just right) weight (can be lifted by one big person), 1080P potential
Weaknesses: Speakers, unlighted remote control, price
Summary: I bought it on line out of a New York internet site (US1Camera) at a very steep discount to retail. Even then it is expensive compared to plasma. However, the quality of the picture on 1080i DTV broadcasts is jaw dropping and frankly unsurpassed by anything I have seen in the stores! It is one beautiful TV both cosmetically and technically. Sure, there could be improvements like HDMI switching (instead of the single HDMI and DVI inputs) but that is a mere nit when you consider how good this set reproduces Hidef signals. FYI, I find very little difference in component v. HDMI as far as picture quality although HDMI saves running separate audio. Speaking of audio, the speakers, which look great mounted on the side are not up to the quality of the panel and you will surely want to install a full surround sound system and remove or not use the speakers that come with the set. They would not even make good center channel speakers.

It comes with TVGuide built in for those who will use a cable card (not me) and I have found it somewhat annoying to suppress the TVguide setup from beginning each time the TV is turned on. Also I have been unable as yet to train the DTV remote to operate the TV's functions as none of the built-in codes seem to work.

If you have the cash and a surround sound system, this TV is as good as it gets.

Strengths: great picture, great color, high resolution, screen size is ample, high quality audio, good hook ups. picture in picture, pc card slot & more
Weaknesses: A little difficult to navigate. Have to switch between tuners to go into the digital and hd channels on the remote rather than one continuous cruise.
Summary: I couldn't decide between the Sony Bravia 40" or this 45" inch Sharp so I bought them both. This sharp has a magnificent picture. The screen size is really a plus and the color depth of field everything you could imagine is spectacular. For regular analogue programming the picture isn't great but is as good as my crt mitsubishi that I retired with this tv. The Sony does a better job upgrading regular or old fashioned programming..say if you like to watch old programs or old movies. I love them both and am glad to have them both but if I had to choose only one I would pick the sharp hands down.

Strengths: Excellent resolution. Good colour. Good screen size. Simple connection to the screen from the control box.
Weaknesses: Need to have a high definition tuner as well as the control box that comes with the set. Only one HDTV input. So for more than one high res input may need a splitter.
Summary: I needed a HDTV for my children to play their proudly newly aquired XBOX 360. Both plasma and rear projection were out as they suffer burn in. LCD does not. Having reviewed all 40 inch and larger LCD models available at various dealers over a two week period I settled on either the 45 inch Sharp or the 40 inch Sony Bravia as they had the best pictures, colur and resolution. I made myself a nuisance and Harvey Norman in Perth (Australia) insisting both be compared side by side and took a week to make the decision. The Sony offers better (lively and dynamic) colour and by compariosn the Sharp looks a bit washed out. Th Sonly has slightly lower resolution, better blacks and a faster response time (8ms compared with 12). Nothing comes close to the resolution on the Sharp though. The final decision though was made on screen size. The Sharp, though only 5 inches bigger, the extra size really shows. So I bought the Sharp. It's a slightly different model to the North American model - at least it has a differnt number. Without the Sony to compare the colour is very good and bright. However, the Sharp really excels on resolution with XBOX 360 set to 1080i the games are incredibly sharp with a huge amount of detail. The TV does not have any difficultly keeping up with fast screen movements. In PAL TV mode the TV picture is also excellent without the problems usually associated with moving from low definition to a big screen. It is much better than the Sony 27 inch Tinitron which has now been consigned to the bedroom. I am very satisied with the Sharp. However, if the Bravia had been 5 inches larger, that might have tipped the scales.

Strengths: Awesome pix! 1920-1080. I'm watching it with my LG HDMI upconvert DVD player and only getting 720P, and even at that resolution, the pix is so beautiful.
Weaknesses: None!
Summary: I had purchased this as on open box at COmpusa for $2100 OTD, and enjoying it every minute. It had the remote control and the operation manual. The LCD was on display for 6 months and was flawless in appearance. I also had bought the 32" Sharp Aquos from them for $400.
