Strengths: Compact size, but produces wonderful sound at all volume levels
Weaknesses: I've only used them in an 8' ceiling so I don't know how they'd fare in a larger setting. Sound is "directed"(see below).
Summary: We replaced some "box" type speakers with these "build-in" units and have been very pleased. They sound great at all volume levels. These are in a kitchen (therefore lots of background noise at times) and can be heard clearly whether we're listening to rock'n'roll or the dialog from a dvd on the television while we're cooking away.
Easy to install with flip-out "dogs" like most build-in speakers to hold them in place. Two-position switch for treble level may help for some difficult placements.
The only slight negative is that these speakers "direct" the sound based on the fact that they are slightly recessed in the mounting. This limits the full dispersion of the higher frequencies. This has not been a problem in the smaller room we've got, but might affect a larger room if you didn't have a ceiling higher than 8'in which to create a larger "sweet spot" for listening. We've targeted ours over the area in which we work most of the time.
My family has had great luck with all our Klipsch speakers. The money spent for their quality has always paid off in years of happy listening.
