ZyXEL AG-225H 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi Finder & USB Adapter

I love this... and you should too

Strengths: Clear LCD screen with all information necessary. Multi-functional device, a truly powerful tool for the user on the go!

Weaknesses: No flash memory support.

Summary: I can't say enough good things about this device. I travel a lot so having something that can immediately look up available hotspots really is a big plus in my bag. Especially now I don't have to turn on my laptop and waste valuable battery time I could use for my work or pleasure. I also especially like the multi-functional use of the AG-225H. The WiFi-Finder function I don't use as much unless there's an 802.11a network around but the soft AP is such a PLUS! This weekend, my friends and I have a trip to Las Vegas and we plan on using internet there but we all know that the hotel will only have 1 line coming into the room so sharing was out of the question. However with the AG-225H, we'll be able to do so without any problems! Thanks ZyXEL!

Great Wi-Fi Toy for Travelers/Hackers

Strengths: Compact-design 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi Finder, WPA/WPA2 Security, Soft-AP Function, Linux/Mac OS X Driver

Weaknesses: No Bluetooth

Summary: This is THE Wi-Fi finder/adapter I have been waiting for - it scans all 802.11a/b/g or pre-N wireless networks even the SSID broadcasting is hidden by the AP. You can get all info you need like SSID, channel, signal strength, and type of encryption. I don't need to turn on my laptop if I already know there's no hotspot available. It has built-in battery re-charged by the USB, and it can be switched to AP mode to share Internet when I travel. The support CD contains FUNK Odyssey Client 4.0 to support IEEE802.1x authentication so it also works very well in my office.

Worked great, for a while...

Strengths: Worked well and could find a signal before booting up computer.

Weaknesses: Was supposed to have file available from company to work with Mac. Available Yes. Working No. Thing died at about month 4 with gentle use.

Summary: Since this died at month 4 while only being used in my home office, I can't imagine it lasting very long on the road. Really disappointed. Asked ZyXel for a remedy. No response as yet.
