Strengths: Can play MP3 files from a DVD-R Disc
Weaknesses: Slow to read MP3 DVD's at startup, display hard to read unless it is angled perfectly
Summary: Overall, I am happy with this head unit. I bought it for its ability to play DVD-R discs with MP3's on them. It takes a lot longer for it to read a DVD with MP3's when it is first inserted, or when the car is turned on, than what I was used to with my old head unit that played MP3 CD's, but that could just be because it holds so much more on a DVD and has to scan everything that is on it. My only other complaint is that the screen on the faceplate is very hard to read if you are not looking at it straight on. In my 02 Civic EX, the mounthing is not at a 90 degree angle, and in order to be able to read the faceplate, I have to keep the screen flipped down with the eject button exposed. This isn't that big of a complaint because keeping it flipped down does solve the problem, and it works fine when its flipped down, which is much better than some head units that have the same problem and dont flip down, making it impossible to work around the problem. If you aren't familiar with how the faceplate flips down, the screen pushes down about a quarter inch, and the buttons on the bottom angle outward. This is done to access the CD/DVD slot and eject button, and is manually operated. This head unit has the ability to connect to a wireless screen for watching DVD movies, but I can't comment on that feature because I don't have a screen and don't plan on getting one.
