Strengths: Super light, holds 500 songs
Weaknesses: Exterior is too soft, ear buds aren't comfortable for extended use.
Summary: I purchased this for my wife and she loves it. It allows her to group songs by playlist, so that she has only songs that she wants to listen to for exercise.
I already heard about how easily the surface can be scratched, so I purchased a silicone (rubber) slip cover on eBay for $7. Of course, you can purchase the case on Apple's website for $30, but it's probably not worth the extra money.
The earbuds don't fit too comfortably, and your ears will become sore after about one hour of listening. However, substitute headphones are cheap and can be found at any electronics store.

Strengths: Compatibility, ease of use
Weaknesses: Itunes, and availability
Summary: Great little device here. I had to wait 3 weeks before my local retailer could get them in. I like the options of playlists, artists, albums, and favorites. I highly recommend this product!

Strengths: Tiny, color screen, photo support
Weaknesses: Ships without AC adapter
Summary: The iPod Nano combines the best of the old line of iPods with (almost) the smallness of the Shuffle. The new features - stopwatch, world clocks, and a lock - are an added bonus. Although it doesn't come with an AC adapter, you can order them relatively inexpensively on eBay. Some have complained about scratching, but it's not as much of an issue with the white model. There are now a bunch of cases/protectors available from Apple and various resellers. Overall it's perfect for running or working out, or for anyone who doesn't feel the need to cary their entire music collection with them.

Strengths: holds a lot of music (500 songs) aprox. very small and thin. lots of extra featers that other mp3's don't have (games, timer, time, pictures, ex.) battery life is a about 14 hours.
Weaknesses: only 2 bad things it scraches like any onther one so you might want to spend another $20 for a case, costs a lot $200 brand new
Summary: I Really like the fact that there is many other feature to this mp3. it has games time timer you can put pistures on it, creat slide shows, calander, contacts, and one that i have used saveral times is ture it into a hard drive to transport music and other files. over all it is quit affective and good quality.

Strengths: Compact and light, fits into pocket easily, holds plenty of
songs.
Weaknesses: screen scratches easily, no a/c charger, and ear phones
very uncomfortable
Summary: I bought the nano for my son and ever since wish I got one
for myself. It makes listening to muisc so much fun, having
a library of songs at my finger tips. I bought a docking
unit that charges as well plays music over internal speakers.

Strengths: a thin, stylish music player
It'a tiny and has a colorful screen
Weaknesses: It ships without an AC adapter. It can not play WMA files or accept music from subscription services like Napster or Rhapsody.
Summary: With high-capacity Flash memory and a crisp color screen, the Nano is great for athletes and others who want a thin, stylish music player. But I should buy a AC adapter by $29.

Strengths: sound, ease of use, capacity
Weaknesses: possibly fragile
Summary: i bought this for me 12 year old daughters bday. she was able to hook it up by herself and transfer music files to it with no interaction from me. she absolutely loves it. the sound is very loud the ease of use is fanatastic. my only unfounded worry is how small and fragile it is. it dont look like it can withstand being handled daily by a very active 12 year old. i just have to wait and see.. overall im very pleased with the product and would recommend it with no hesitation

Strengths: very small, work very well , easy to use with color monitor.
Weaknesses: the price
Summary: the features on the iPod photo. i love using it while i'm working in the laboratory. battery last all day and the hold botton is a good feature. The only gripe I have is that the control wheel is overly sensitive and very touchy that sometimes it goes higher than what i want. Vibrant Color screen Easy to read.

Strengths: Size, iTunes, AAC has high sound quality, photos
Weaknesses: scratchs very easily
Summary: The iPod nano is a wondeful product. iTunes is very easy to use, way easier then Napster and musicmatch. It is also a plus that it can show photos even though the screen is small. The only thing I don't like about it is that it scratchs very easily.

Strengths: - Compact, light and very thin
- Beautiful color display
- Free custom engraving available through Apple's website
Weaknesses: - Battery charger not included
Summary: Nano is so thin! When I opened the box, it was even smaller than what I had expected. 2GB holds about 400 songs, which is more than sufficient as an mp3 player. However, it did not come with a battery charger, even though it came with a rechargable battery?!! Almost any electronic device includes this nowadays, so I was very disappointed to see it was not included in the box. To pay another $30 for this so-called accessory is a rip-off.

Strengths: Size. Design
Weaknesses: Ear Bud Comfort
Summary: I've been overly impressed with the Nano's performance and durability thus far! I don't have a huge music library so the 2 GB is more than enough for my needs and I don't ever see myself using it for all of its capabilities - since I mainly wanted an mp3 player for the gym. But for the more experienced, all-inclusive iPod user this little guy does it all, and with ease! Transfer speed is faster than I would have expected, and installation was a cinch as long as you follow the directions they give you EXACTLY! If you plug in your iPod before installing iTunes you ARE going to have trouble with iTunes recognizing it.
Overall - very good product, maybe a little pricey given the other varieties that are out there. But I think you're paying a premium for the size (or lack thereof), and flashiness of it all. I personally was glad I bought the Nano as opposed to a full-sized iPod. I held my friends a few days after I got my Nano and I couldn't imagine using it at the gym with how heavy it was. I think the newest generation iPods (with video) are slightly smaller and lighter than the old ones, though.

Strengths: doesn't show scratches like black, no moving parts, truly pocketable
Weaknesses: can be uncomfortable for big hands
Summary: 2006-02-01 15:13:05 i think the 2gb ipod nano is the best ipod so far. sound quality is awesome, it's small enough to carry comfortably in your pocket, and since it's flash-based, it doesn't have any moving parts... you can jog with it and not worry about hard drive damage. i definitely recommend the white one because it doesn't show scratches as easily as the black one, although a good case can eliminate scratches altogether. the only disadvantage is that it may be a little TOO small for some people. if you have big hands you may find the nano's scroll wheel a bit cramped. The smaller screen, however, is perfectly readable. no squinting involved. some say the 4gb is a better deal, but this thing holds over 24 hours of music. if you need more, then just update the songs... what's the problem with that? save the extra 50 bucks for accessories.

Strengths: Compact, light weight
Weaknesses: Accessories are pricey
Summary: I have purchased the nano ipod. I was wondering if I should have bought the 4gb, but the 2 gb is more than enough space for downloading songs. I'm pleased on how light weight it is and how clear the music comes out.
Thank you
