Strengths: I really enjoy being to carry this camera everywhere that I go and still get quality pictures. It is sharp, has good color balance, and is exceptional for a camera this size.
Weaknesses: You have to be careful with the auto focus. Sometimes I have to wait until the camera is ready and the shot might be gone.
Summary: I have several 35 mm cameras and a Nikon D70. I have been very pleased with the pictures that I get from the S3. If you are careful, you can get images that are very good quality. Size is the real plus for me, along with the high quality images.

2 Star ReviewCool looking and Compact
Strengths: Looks and portability. Big LCD screen. Ease of use.
Weaknesses: IMO, image quality is less than my Canon.
Summary: 2005-11-02 21:47:10 I really love the looks of this camera. The big 2.5 inch LCD screen is cool too. I like the non-protruding lens. But after using a Canon S400 for two years, the image quality of this Nikon is just not as good, in my opinion. I like that the Nikon uses SD cards. I got the Nikon because the Canon was small but still a little too heavy and bricklike to carry around with ease. I really care most about image quality so I'm sticking with my Canon. But this one is way more portable and the build quality is excellent. Start up time was fine and also in-between shot time.

Strengths: size/pic quality/ comes in a variety of body color
Weaknesses: video mode
Summary: qty of pics is excellent. Size is great. Pop in a 2Gb sd card and it works non stop. If they can get the video to work better, it would have gotten 6 stars from me.
