Strengths: price is low for the quality
Weaknesses: a bit difficult to use if the room is not dimmed
Summary: I have this for 4 weeks and I will not watch movies on my old TV again. You can't beat the value of the projector. I have it set on economy mode so that it will last 3000 hrs before I have to replace the $300 bulb. I get free movies from my local library and the running cost of watching a 2-hr movie on this projector is thus $0.20, which is way, way cheaper than going to the theater! Some of scenes that are dark, like those in a sci-fi movie, become very difficult to see when using this projector. Otherwise, nothing beats this nice projector!

Strengths: bright, easily viewed, good quality for the price
Weaknesses: no DVI, low native resolution
Summary: I bought this projector and used it for a week before taking advantage of the 14 day return.
I have now traded up to the optima ep719, which has 1024*768 native resolution (nearly twice the number of pixels), 2000 (+200 over ep716) lumens and 2500 (+500 over ep716) contrast ratio and the DVI(HDCP)!
In my opinion the extra $300 will pay for itself when watching DVDs and PS2 games
But to each his own, the price trade off is really your call,

Strengths: nice and bright picture
Weaknesses: no digital input
Summary: I have used this projector for 1 week and enjoyed it so much. it's connected to the output of the receiver and show the video from my TV, DVD, PS2. All look fabulous. there is no component input(you can use a VGA/component adapter). no digital input you can do nothing about that. It's such a good experience. I didn't notice the rainbow effect(it's said to be the problem for all 4-segment 2x wheel RGB and White ). If you wanna a jumbo screen for your home theater, forget about flat panel. get this projector and easily 100 inch.

Strengths: Clear picture, bright lumens
Weaknesses: 2x color wheels, meaning occasional rainbow effect
Summary: This projector is a gem for the price. Although it is named as a business projector, it serves great as a budget home theatre projector.
I've been using this for a week. It's been great to me and to my friends. I sometimes observe rainbow effect, but for the price, I do not really care about it. You see the effect only if you rapidly moves your eye balls.
Picture quality is wonderful, and the 800*600 pixels are very accurate and bright. Excellent gaming experience, as well as movie ones.

Optoma EP716 DLP Projector
Strengths: Light weight. Inexpensive compared with other brand.
Weaknesses: No DVI. There is some bad smell from ventilation when it is turned off. Cheap casing.
Summary: I bought this for $550 (including tax) after mail-in rebate at BestBuy. For the money I paid for it, the quality is fine. I want more contrast ratio and brightness because it's difficult to use in daylight. Sometimes I observe rainbow effect. The native resolution (800x600) is good for watching movies but is not good enough for text. If you are near the projector, it emits some bad smell from ventilation when it is turned off.

Strengths: Images are clean and sharp -- also liked the quite operation and fast shut down times which are a big plus for this projector.
Weaknesses: Haven’t seen any yet…I paid under $800.00 for this projector and for me it’s money well spent.
Summary: For the money, I love it. Also, the EP716’s small size doesn’t compromise its good video performance. Overall, a great projector which I’ve recommended to my friends.

Strengths: Quality unit with 800 x 600 resolution; Very lightweight; set up is a snap with easy menu options; versitile settings allows users to customize for optimal experience
Weaknesses: no digital inputs
Summary: This unit is simply amazing. After rebate price at Comp USA was $499.99! It shoots a DVD picture on a screen I have set up about 16' from front and impresses everyone who comes over! Could pass easily for a $1000+ unit. Very pleased

Strengths: Good brightness, good contrast ratio. very light weight - doesn't feel it at all when carry around. Inexpensive makes it a star.
Weaknesses: Lacks component input - which is a bummer for someone that wants to hook it to cable TV box or DVD players etc., except you have a VGA-to-component cable like mine.
Summary: I purchased this baby at bestbuy when it was on sale. Watched 2 movies w/ my friends. Man, this baby rocks! Everyone was so stunned by the video quality, and it did look so good in my 200 sq.feet living room. I placed it about 9 ft from the wall and got the projection about 90" dia., and the resolution is not bad at all. way pass my expectation. Contrast ratio and brightness is awesome. I know it's a 4:3 and 800x600 projector, but for the money (around $500 i paid), it's well worth the money. I highly recommend this projector. By the way, i've used Optoma H31 from my friend once, and it was same high quality. Trust me, Optoma is one of the best projector manufacturer from my experience.
