Strengths: Clean crisp sound, no fuss set-up. Volume control on right-center speaker and a separate volume control for the subwoofer (on the back of the subwoofer though). Headphone jack right on the speaker.
Weaknesses: Right-center speaker has some pretty thick sets of wires to deal with. Windows XP has no option for "6.1" speaker set-up, have to fudge it with another setting. No instant-mute button
Summary: One loud speaker system with mega bass!
I'm glad the subwoofer has its own volume control and that the speaker's volume setting is at arm's length. I also would have liked some more documentation (humor me a little), especially on speaker positioning for various set-ups and how to choose the right WindowsXP settings. The blue "on" light on the speaker is irritating, especially since I like to keep my speakers on all the time. The speaker base's are adjustable to point according to desktop or wall-mount positions, but that's all. The wires are a bit much, but can't complain. Set-up was easy with the color coding, but they should have writting "Rear Center" "Left Surround" etc right on the speakers rather than having to look in the tiny print on the getting started pamphlet.
The sound is clean and crisp. It is very loud even at about 2/10 volume. Sound does get a little distorted at over half-volume (that volume setting is enough to play music so it can be heard throughout a 2 storey house). Subwoofer is plenty just on its lowest setting but I'm sure rap-enthusiasts will have it higher!
Would have liked an instant-mute button, some more speaker-positioning and configuration help plus more flexible stands. Otherwise for the money, an excellent speaker set. Highly recommended.
