Strengths: Allows you to screw on a wide angle or telephoto lens to your digital camera.
Weaknesses: Made of plastic -- looks like it may crack easily it not taken care of.
Summary: This item easily fits onto a Canon digital camera (in my case A610) has has threads to accept a compatable wide angle or telephoto lens. THis is a necessary piece if you want to use an add on lens. As mentioned above, it's plastic, so there's a good chance if you rub it the wrong way it'll crack.
