Westone UM2 Dual Driver Earphones

Excellent sound but worst support

Strengths: Sound quality is absolutely amazing with outstanding performance. Deep bass, beautiful highs and mids. Perfect combination for Ipod, good noise attenuation.

Weaknesses: The nightmare started 5 months after purchased when the right earphone stooped working.

Summary: I sent it to Westone for a replacement in the original case with all the documents, warranty, prove of purchase etc, everything within a box all sealed and very well packed.After 45 days a received back my earphones in a paper bag, no case, no fix, no explanations.I called them no answer, I e-mailed them, no response.......I gave up. Then I decided to try to fix them my self. It was the cable-connection in the Y joint that was not doing any contact, I fixed it.

But after few more months the cable inside the right earphone lost contact. No Fix possible now, no earphones, No warranty, very disappointed.As much as I love the sound I would not recommend this product because of the lack of support. The cable connections are very weak. For $ 300 I would expect a better product.

My Best Sound Quality Earphones

Strengths: The next best thing to "being there". I have never heard my recorded music sound better.

Weaknesses: To fit my ear canals better, I plan to spend another $80 to an audiologist to have fitted ear pieces made. I wish that there was a mode of volume control to prevent distructive loudness levels.

Summary: My music collection is quite large and again new. The sound with the UM2 Dual Driver Earphones is making each recording enough better to look forward to relistening. They do take minute to put on, but when inserted the earpieces are comfortable and quickly forgotten. I have no regrets about the money I spent to fill in all of the frequencies on my recorded music.

Westone's UM2 Dual-Driver earphones deliver true-to-life music reproduction!

Strengths: High-quality sound in a lightweight package, plus isolation from ambient sound for hearing protection...and a 2-year warranty

Weaknesses: The cable is too short and better-fit items cost extra.

Summary: There's no question that these Westone UM2 earphones are top-quality! I bought them primarily for use as in-ear monitors, but they double as the best mp3 earphones you'll ever hear. The sound reproduction is clear and true from the lowest bass notes to the highest frequencies...you'll hear parts of your favorite music that you've never heard before! Of course, for sound reproduction this good, you should expect to pay ($450 MSRP, around $299 retail)...but it's well worth it!

My only negative comments are relatively minor in comparison: the cable is short (52"), especially for use as in-ear monitors, and, unlike its closest competitors (the Shure SCL5 and Etymotic Research ER4S), the UM2s come with only a meager 'fit kit' and a cheaply made plastic container; for this price, it's reasonable to expect a more generous set of accessories (for example, a more complete fit kit, a longer cable, audio adapters, a solid storage container, cleaning solution, etc.).

Overall, I heartily recommend the Westone UM2 earphones. Treat yourself...you'll enjoy it!!
