Strengths: Stunning HD picture (Cablecard), Upconverted DVD picture nearly as good. Digital cable picture surprisingly clear. Sound quality better than expected.
Weaknesses: No TV Guide OnScreen using Cablecard makes channel surfing problematic. Can't use as a computer monitor. Analog cable picture worse than watching regular TV.
Summary: After many months of research into the ideal HD for me, I read everything from Consumer Reports to Cnet.com, including all of the manufacturers websites. I eliminated projection TVs (DLP, LCD proj, and the like) because I didn't want to pay for lamp replacements every 2 years to the tune of $400-600 bucks a pop. So it was either plasma, HD conventional tube, or LCD. I looked at all of these sets in the showroom and couldn't see much difference between the Sharp LCD and the Panansonic Plasmas (which Cons. Reports rated the highest). HD tube looked great, but I just didn't want a 250 pound lump dominating my bedroom. Plasma entry point was around $2300 (Panasonic 37") and it could still suffer burn-in if we used it for Xbox, soooo- I bought my Sharp for just under $1500. It has the over the air tuner, which worked fine - but the coolest feature I've found is that the TV auto selects the output DPI from the source. From Digital cable shows @480 all the way up to the HDnetwork@1080. At first I thought the 480 reception from my digital cable was HD - it looked that good. Then I had the Cablecard installed the next day and WHOA. The 30 or so channels that come in HD are just the nuts. The ones that shoot in 1080i are like looking out the window- just razor sharp- amazing. My cable company charges $14 per mo. for an HD box as opposed to the $2.50 for the Cablecard. Not having the TV Guide built in like some TV's or the channel scan feature available with the cable box is a bit of a drag, but the HUGE upgrade from my regular TV picture is really what it's all about. The DVD, Digital cable and HD picture are all top notch, with the 1080i channels truly blowing away anything else. I put off ordering a 5.1 surround sound set up because the built in TV speakers with the simulated surround are really very nice for a bedroom TV. The Digital music channels from cable are sparkling clear for background music. The manual is pretty straight forward and setup was easy. Remote is good with some nice "favorite channel" presets to help minimize the pain of not having the TV Guide built in while using the Cablecard. I don't know how a regular DVD picture looks on this set, as I sprung for the upconverting HDMI unit from Panasonic (DVD-S77S). I only wish they made a 5 disc unit with the same features. My only problem now is that the kids want to watch everything on my bedroom TV. After truly months of research, I couldn't be happier with my choice.

Strengths: Great picture. Easy to use.
Weaknesses: Wish it had more than one HMDI input.
Summary: After much research, i purchased this TV from Newegg.com. I agree that its analog picture is ordinary (like many LCD TVs), but I feel its HD pictures is great. I recommend this TV to anyone whoi is on the fence as to whether to buy this one or not.

Strengths: Very good across the board so far. Excellent picure..
Weaknesses: 1 HDMI port. I wish it had more. Otherwise no complaints. Im very pleased.
Summary: Picture quality is excellent. I dislike analog now but this was the only one I felt the picture isn't horrible on. The HD is unreal. It really delivers. When I did a side by side comparison w/some of its'more expensive rivals I felt it clearly surpassed them in every way. I only found 1 competetor to have a faster response time and none to surpass the 4000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. All in all after weeks of deliberation and research I feel I made the right decision. Hopefully I have my new X-box 360 later tonight and we'll really get to see what she'll do.

Strengths: resolution, hdtv tuner, cable-card ready, appearance (piano black!), no burn-in, long panel life, HDMI connection
Weaknesses: Black Levels are better, but still not CRT
Summary: Excellent features and reasonable price = value!

32 inch LCD has high resolution 1,366X768, built-in HDTV (ATSC) tuner, cable-card slot, hdmi slot, component video etc.

Piano black is stylish and nice wire management too for clean look.

Has mulitple zoom options to make 4:3 analog pictures fill the wide screen 16:9 aspect (including "smart stretch", stretch, and zoom).

Black levels are not bad. But watching Beatles classic Hard Day's Night looks slightly blue-ish.

HDTV is spectacular and analog cable is OK with some tweaking.

Strengths: Picture quality and high performance specs and features, including variety of inputs and integrated HD tuner allowing over the air reception of HD signals.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: Best combination of picture, price and features that I found with in-store comparisons and online research. Also, I was pleased that HD tuner was integrated allowing over the air reception of HD signals. I appreciated the manufacturer's straightforward specs and no deceptive claims. Very elegant look.

Though an attractive addition to decor, the glossy piano black finish can reflect light sources which may be a slight distraction.

Strengths: picture; sleek appearance
Weaknesses: Slightly wider than other brands; poor Instruction manual
Summary: The picture quality is very good. LCD is a great technology. The black cabinet is sleek and unobtrusive. Be sure to measure the space where it's going as it seems to be a little wider than others due to speakers located on each side. The instruction manual is not very helpful or informative, however, my husband said it was relatively easy to hook up (easier than a Sony we previously had). Like other flat screen LCDs of this size, it's fairly light weight and easy to maneuver.

Strengths: Features & Price
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I purchased this TV for use in my study - bedroom sized space where we watch a little TV and play Xbox 360. I wanted a small footprint and integrated speakers. Based on my research on the net I narrowed it down to a Dell or the AQUOS LC-32D4U. I did view LCDs at a local retailer, comparing to a Sony HD XBR CRT - yes the LCD doesn’t deliver CRT picture quality but I didn’t want a 24” deep set.

I purchased the AQUOS for the price, features and appearance. I got a great price here! $500 less than retail and $200 less than the Dell. The specifications between the AQUOS and Dell are similar – except that the AQUOS includes the CableCARD slot. The cableCARD slips directly into the TV replacing the set-top converter box – saving space and delivering digital HDTV to the AQUOS for $3 a month on top of my regular cable bill. I’m saving $ enough to pay for this TV in less than 25 years! Finally, dressed in a sexy black gloss finish and delivering an absolutely stunning HD picture over cable and the Xbox – there is no better 32” LCD for the money IMHO.

1 Star Reviewbeutiful tv, when it works right
Strengths: nice piano black, excellent picture.
Weaknesses: sharp customer service is horrible, sharp unable to repair this model if it breaks.
Summary: I puchased this lcd tv and it was great, the picture was superb, until about two months of use when the tv started having a large yellow line down the picture, I called sharp and they picked up the tv for repair, about 3 weeks later they call and notify me that they are unable to fix the problem due to the model LC32D4U is relatively new and they do not know how to repair it. Sharp customer service offered me a refund which i agreed to and filled out the necessary paperwork, its been over 3 months i've been without a tv and still have not received my refund check. I repeatedly call customer service with negative results i.e: we still have to inspect your unit, we will send it shortly.....very frustrated with Sharp, wont buy from them again

Strengths: Sleek design, great picture, excellent price.
Weaknesses: Soo many features to adjust.
Summary: This whole shopping experience was much better than I expected. I saved $400.00 from buying through PriceGrabber versus what I would have paid at my local retailer. The piano black finish blends in very well with my furnishings. I have not been able to take advantage of the built in HD tuner because I need to subscibe to HD programming from my satellite service provider, but the regular digital signal looks great and I love watching DVDs on this set. Overall, I got a great TV at a great price.

1 Star ReviewSound burns out after 18 Months
Strengths: Loved the first 18 Months - good picture
Weaknesses: Widely known problem with sound - will cost $250-500 to fix
Summary: Did my homework before buying but problem occurred after 18 months. Sharp knows and could care less. Checked out a fix-it site and found hordes of people with same problem:

www.fixya.com/support/...

For the amount of money it costs, should last longer.
