Summary: My VCR failed. I looked for a DVD/VCR combo and the Samsung V-3500 price caught my eye at bestbuy.com (closeout pricing). After I purchased it, bestbuy cancelled the order and gave me a 10% off next purchase coupon. They had the V-3650 available for $40 more ($25 with 10% off coupon). I bought it.

After reading reviews on the Samsung V-3500 I expected a little struggle setting the unit up. I up-packed the unit, plugged it in, connected the unit to my TV with the video/audio cable provided, inserted batteries into the remote control and clicked the "power" button (TV was on).

The unit came on immediately. I have a couple local broadcast channels that have always been fuzzy. After the automatic channel selection procedure, both these were crystal clear and razor sharp. I'm impressed. I clicked through the channels and all looked great.

I then popped in a VCR tape and bingo auto play began without a hitch ... nice image, good sound, easy control functions. I ejected the tape.

I the put a DVD disk in. Again auto play began. Nice image, good sound, easy control. I ejected the disk and tried several others. No problems.

Bottom line is I am very happy I bought this Samsung DVD/VCR combo.

Weaknesses: doesnt play VCDs

Summary: This is a good unit overall. It wasnt very difficult to set it up. The remote is pretty good too. Plays DVDs and VHS effortlessly!

The biggest shortcoming is it doesnt play VCDs. I still havent tested it with MP3 format CDs.

Bought a samsung HDTV (27") so i thought i would g ...

Strengths: very compact and well built

Weaknesses: was difficult to install

Summary: Bought a samsung HDTV (27") so i thought i would get a matching dvd and vcr. I am finally very happy with this. When i first installed it following the instructions, neither neither would work and the directions were very difficult to understand. I called the Samsung toll free number and spoke to a young man who was very understandable and talked and helped me through the installation process. Its absolutely amazing how they can phsically see your unit and make it work. VERY SATISFIED SO FAR.
