Strengths: Comfortable to use, Good alternative to behemoth Logitech mice, Looks great, Uses an IR LED that is both invisible and works well on black mousepads
Weaknesses: Not wireless, Scroll wheel just a hair too far forward for my taste
Summary: Let me just start off by saying that I love this mouse. It looks great (matches all of my other blue LEDs:-) and feels as good to use as it looks. Personally I'm not a big fan of the large Logitech mice, and this mouse is about as far from that as you can get. In other words, if you really like the latest Logitech mice you may not like this, but if (like me) you find them a little to large and unwieldy for your tastes you'll probably like this mouse as much as I do.
First, Razer mice are all ambidextrous so they don't leave the lefties out in the cold. This can be a bit annoying because part of accomplishing this was putting extra buttons on both sides of the mouse, so you may find yourself occasionally bumping the ones on the side opposite your thumb. Do note though: these buttons are not in a position to be really usable for anything (nor are they intended to be). The two buttons on the same side as your thumb are the only ones you will be able to use comfortably. However, about the only time I have a problem with the extra buttons is when I'm picking the mouse up to admire it, so they're only a _very_ minor irritation and don't detract from this mouse at all IMHO. One other thing to keep in mind is that some people don't like the placement of the side buttons. I find they are in a good position for the way I hold the mouse, but I think they could have been closer to the scroll wheel (either it moves back or they move forward). See below for more about that.
Ergonomically I find the mouse very comfortable as well. My MX 700 that I had previously was probably slightly more comfortable to hold, but as I mentioned before I didn't like the feel of that mouse as much as this one overall. There are rubber pads on both sides of the mouse that give you a very sure grip. The two main buttons are coated with what I like to refer to as a velvet finish. I'm not sure what it's actually made out of, although I suspect some sort of textured rubber. I love the feel of this, and the buttons' slightly curved shape only improves on their comfort. The scroll wheel is a bit wider than on most mice, but it really has no effect on its use. I can't say I really have a preference one way or the other - for me a scroll wheel is a scroll wheel (unless it's a stupid Microsoft one that doesn't click, which is why I will never buy one of their mice). There are no cruise control buttons like on my MX 700, but I never used them anyway so I don't miss them at all. As I mentioned earlier, I think the scroll wheel is a bit too far forward, but it doesn't really bother me. In order to have my thumb resting in a comfortable position on the side buttons, my hand is a little too far from the scroll wheel. I can still reach it, but I can't reach all the way to the front of it. This may also be due in part to the slightly larger size of the wheel.
After about two weeks I am still loving this mouse. Once I got the sensitivity adjusted to my preference (it's much more sensitive than my MX 700) I have enjoyed every minute spent using it. The motion is nice and smooth thanks to the Teflon coated feet and the smaller size fits my mousing style better. The only thing that I would change about this mouse is to make it wireless, but that might increase the weight too much so it's an acceptable tradeoff for me. If you prefer to have you mouse more out at your fingertips like I do, then this is the mouse for you. A little pricey, but worth it.
