Strengths: tiny size, excellent video/audio quality, very good low-light performance
Weaknesses: ergonomics; no video editing software included
Summary: 2006-02-04 22:49:10 I knew about the so-so ergonomics of this camcorder. However, its excellent low-light performance made me choose this model over others (mostly 3 CCD models). I am very happy about the video quality of this model in low-light. Since I mostly use my camcorder to record indoor activities, low-light performance was my #1 concern. Still image performance is also very good as a camcorder, although not as good as digital cameras. Battery lasts long enough for me (about 1.2 hours). Very small and convenient for carrying wherever you go. If you want to attach an external microphone, you can attach it to the bottom (there are two holes, one for this purpose and the other for a tripod). User manual is so so, but looks much better than typical Panasonic manuals.
Excellent:
- video/audio quality in most conditions
- lots of options for taking still images
- portability
Okay:
- still image quality
- battery life
- user manual
Bad:
- ergonomics (a bit ugly to grab and control)
- no *video* editing software included (like many others)
- no DV(IEEE1394/Firewire/i.link) cable included (like many others)
Overall, I am very happy with this model. Highly recommended for average users.
