Strengths: Size, picture clarity, ease of use, optical stabilization. It has 4mp camera in case I don't want to lug around my still camera, "flush", sleek body style - battery doesn't even stick out!
Weaknesses: I'm still working on getting good quality stills indoors. But, this is a video camera, not a still camera, so I don't count that against the camera.
Summary: I looked and researched camcorders for months. I really didn't want to spend this much ($764) on a camcorder but I'm glad I did. It is so light and small and makes taking video lots of fun. We plan on keeping this camera for a long time so the price won't seem as steep. I was amazed at how small it is!!

Strengths: Small/compact size, great video quality.
Weaknesses: Control layout, viewfinder.
Summary: I wanted a high-quality compact Mini DV camcorder, and this one fits the bill perfectly. However, the small size leads to a difficult control layout. Also, the viewfinder resolution is not so great, and the viewfinder itself is not adjustable at all, making it pretty much useless.

Strengths: tiny size, excellent video/audio quality, very good low-light performance
Weaknesses: ergonomics; no video editing software included
Summary: 2006-02-04 22:49:10 I knew about the so-so ergonomics of this camcorder. However, its excellent low-light performance made me choose this model over others (mostly 3 CCD models). I am very happy about the video quality of this model in low-light. Since I mostly use my camcorder to record indoor activities, low-light performance was my #1 concern. Still image performance is also very good as a camcorder, although not as good as digital cameras. Battery lasts long enough for me (about 1.2 hours). Very small and convenient for carrying wherever you go. If you want to attach an external microphone, you can attach it to the bottom (there are two holes, one for this purpose and the other for a tripod). User manual is so so, but looks much better than typical Panasonic manuals.

Excellent:

- video/audio quality in most conditions

- lots of options for taking still images

- portability

Okay:

- still image quality

- battery life

- user manual

Bad:

- ergonomics (a bit ugly to grab and control)

- no *video* editing software included (like many others)

- no DV(IEEE1394/Firewire/i.link) cable included (like many others)

Overall, I am very happy with this model. Highly recommended for average users.

Strengths: size, combination of digicam and camcorder, excellent camcorder
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: Excellent video quality with largest sensor size in its class - other manufacturers seem to skip improvements of miniDV camcorders this year. Very good low light performance. Also very nice 4MP digital camera – quality comparable to S410/SD300. Size, size, size!!! Nice vertical hold for those who prefer it.

Strengths: Excellent compact. Very good picture and video quality.
Weaknesses: No automatic photo Date/Time Stamping feature include on still picture
Summary: After compared with Sonny DCR-DVD403 and canon DV20, I was attracted by Optura 600 because it's excellent composite with Image Stabilizer. Pictures are so vivid and come with a lot of option. Battery is satisfy. Everything is very easy to use. Though pictures taken using auto mode tends to be "red" color and without Date/Time stamping like Sonny, I still strongly recommend it because it bring me a lot of fun on my trip.
