Strengths: French Door Design
Weaknesses: Door leaks and electronic issues
Summary: Our old refrigerator died after 11 years so we were without a refrigerator. Unit took 10 days to come into a central warehouse – another 2 days to deliver. It was unpacked on the truck and the delivery guys said that it was too badly damaged to deliver. GE Warehouse? We ordered another unit. It was another 7 days until another unit arrived.

The unit was delivered to our house and plugged in. After it cooled for a couple of hours, we started to get groceries again and filled up the fridge with food. The first issue was the freezer door seal. I removed the grate and looked at the seal at the bottom of the freezer. In the middle of the door, the seal did not even touch the frame. It was about a one foot area that was not in contact with the unit and ice was forming on that area.

Looking closely at the design, the frame is straight, but the door is curved. Design Flaw?

Our supplier does not service GE refrigerators. GE uses their service for repairs. The supplier contacted GE and told us they cannot come until next week and we were to put a towel on the bottom to make a seal. WHAT?

I stuck a thermometer in both the fridge and the freezer. By morning I checked the temperatures: fridge @ 51 deg: freezer @ -12 degrees. All food lost. I called supplier for another complaint, but all they could do is order another unit.

The unit we ordered was black. The store did have a stainless unit on the show floor and we inquired if we could exchange our bad one for the stainless one. They said that they will not do that. They were not willing to take a loss for GE. At this point we were fed up with GE products and the supplier. We are waiting for a full refund and they picked up the bad unit today. I have lost all confidence in GE and will probably never buy another GE appliance again. Who is to say that the next one that would have come in from Ky. would be good?
