Strengths: Picture quality, design, Easy to navigate menus. Easy access to service menu to properly calibrate your picture. No reflection/rainbow issues that affect the 720p models. Input labeling a plus
Weaknesses: Black bezel around screen attracts dust. Must dust everyday. Blacks in picture are crushed unless properly adjusted. 1080i overscan is difficult to defeat but can be done
Summary: I have just upgraded from the HLN model and I am very thankful I did. Pic is superior in every way. SD content as well as HD is better. Better color, much crisper, with less distortions. No rainbow effect or reflection issues which effect the 720p models. My D-VHS looks incredible it even blows away HD content. Cant wait for HD-DVD to be released. XBOX 360 is amazing when hooked up to this TV. Spent plenty of time compairing this to Sony's 1080p model at local stores. Thought Samsung's picture was better and considering the price difference it was an easy choice.

Strengths: Excellent picture, sound and look. Easy to program. Under 100 lbs.
Weaknesses: So lightweight at the base, it is almost top heavy.
Summary: After a solid three days of non-stop viewing, this is a reliable, consistent product, whether viewing digital or HD feed. Both sports and newscasts are exceptionally clear. HD feed comes in with less viewing area than digital feed, but sacrifice is well worth the difference in quality.

Strengths: large, excellent picture, 1080p input(if it works when i get some HD-DVD action), inputs(there are plenty)
Weaknesses: not known yet
Summary: It was either this Samsung DLP or the 60 inch Sony XSRD. Both had beautiful pictures and excellent quality and brightness. I went with the Samsung because this model (78w) is said to have 1080p input, where the 60 inch Sony XSRD only had a 1080i input. Very satisfied with my selection. XBOX360 on this thing is amazing.

Strengths: Price and performance beats all the competitors, I have not yet subscribed to HD, frankly in no hurry since Standard definition is not bad at all.
Weaknesses: Annoying "beeping" when turning on and off. No real weaknesses.
Summary: If you are looking for a 61" DLP look no further. Forget about the 720p resolutions, the future is 1080p. Gorgeous tabletop design, very clean look. Can't wait to get Blu ray for maximum HD for movies.

Strengths: 1920x1080 native resoulution, bright, clear picture. Great contrast. No burn-in. Just under a 100lbs. Good strong sound. Ready for the future. Support
Weaknesses: Not crazy about the "TV Guide" setup.
Summary: I've been window shopping the Samsung DLP sets for almost 3 years. At that time "plasma" was too expensive. Samsung seems to have mastered the DLP tecnology to the best picture I've seen. Right now I'd recommend to anyone buying a new television, don't settle for less than 1080P. This set blew me away. It's twice the resolution of most plasmas and LCDs. No "screen door" look. Originally the 5o" model is what our budget and space allowed, but there was this sale I couldn't pass up on this 61". Made the room and glad we did. Bigger is better. Not all broadcasts are high definition, so standard definition only fills the center making the 61" around 56". Our cable company offers a high definition box, but only has component connections. HDMI connection is the best so I can only imagine how much better this will be when they upgrade their equipment.

Set up was easy. Pretty much ready to go right out of the box (with your cable company's offerings). I'm running 2 DVD players, a VCR, stereo reciever, Standard Cable Box and Hi-Def DVR Box with imputs left over. It's ready for the new high definition DVD players and 4 movies. I recommend a good power filter/protector for about $75 (even made my old 240lbs 40" Mitsubishi CRT look great). I'd buy an extended warranty because of the "lamp". Make sure the warranty covers the "lamp". Plasmas and LCDs grow old and fade away. DLP lamps fade and burn out. Replace the lamp and you've got a new TV. I tease people now because I tell them my new favorite male television personality is now Huell Howser on KCET-HD. Network broadcast of movies in hi-def are 3 times clearer than the DVD. Even our local "alphabet" news and their helicopter's zoom lens in hi-def looks great (even though they brag every 2 minutes!). Have fun..We are..
