Strengths: The small size makes it very easy to clip on while working out. This is my first player and the buttons and menus have been easy to figure out.
Weaknesses: It would be nice if it were a little easier to switch between the radio and the player, but it's a small problem.
Summary: This is my first experience with a music player and I really like the YP-F1Z. I wanted something very small, but with a lot of features and this unit has both. The player and the manual are both user friendly so I've had no problems setting it up. Samsung has a good web site so I was able to read the manual before the player arrived. The display on the screen has a lot more information than I expected on a small player. Some of the large players are okay if you're sitting around. This player is perfect for working out, running, etc.

Strengths: excellent playback, small size, easy to use
Weaknesses: haven't found one yet
Summary: This MP3 player is awesome, it's small enough to be extremely helpful to a busy life but not too small where it's hard to use. I love the fact that it's chargeable, thats it's best asset, I would recommend this to anyone!

Strengths: Small size, great sound quality, easy to use.
Weaknesses: The headphones.
Summary: I like the YP-F1Z because it's compact and it doesn't get in the way when you're on the go. The sound quality is great and it hold's a lot of music for it's size. Another nice feature is because it's flash memory it doesn't skip during playback.

Strengths: small size.
Weaknesses: short battery life (~10 hours) compare to the Sony (~50) hours.
Summary: The manual says that the rechargeable battery is a consumable item and its capacity will decrease gradually. If you charge the battery and it is not completely drained, the battery operating time will decrease. I don't see how you can avoid not charging it before it is drained since everytime you connect to USB to transfer files, it is automatically being charged as it is using the same connection.

Strengths: Small, fits easily in pocket. Easy to use, screen has good resolution and is easy to read. Built in clip comes in handy and does not add to players size.
Weaknesses: Don't like white color of included earphones. Would like to have a line-in record capability.
Summary: Radio works well, voice record is good quality. Included USB power cord is also used for data transfer. I recommend also purchasing a 115v to USB power adaptor (ebay ~$7), that will allow you to recharge it without needing a running computer.

I gave it as a gift and now I hear... "I like it because its mine!!! And I don't like sharing it!!!" Okay, so I will be buying a second one since I like it too.

Strengths: Small size, lots of memory. Great sound. Great carrying options (belt clip or unique neck-hang). Music is easy (and fast) to load.
Weaknesses: Does not have replaceable batteries. Battery has memory effect (if you charge it up before it's completely run down, it will decrease its charge capacity). User interface is slightly complex.
Summary: 1GB of great sounding music for around $100. Memory is flash, so there's no moving parts & no skips. However it also can't be upgraded. I mainly us it for the gym, walking, and bike riding. I really like the unique "necklace" for the player. It keeps the player out of the way and stable, but also easily accessable.

Strengths: - size is definitely a plus, perfect for the gym, running, etc. - supports multiple formats - great sound - built in radio a plus
Weaknesses: - headphones not the greatest - battery life could be longer (8-10 hrs)
Summary: Overall I am pleased with this product for the short time I am using it. Great option for a person with an active lifestyle. I wish they offered it with more built in memory (2-4 GB).

Strengths: Small (very portable), Great sound quality, plays Ogg Vorbis!
Weaknesses: Included software is not very usefull
Summary: It works great. I have not had any problems with it whatsoever. It is a million times better than the iPod shuffle and is about the same price. The features are great. It can record FM radio or voice. It works fine on Mac and Windows, just be sure to plug it in after the computer is turned on, otherwise it acts just like a flash drive. You can throw you music on there and go.

Strengths: 1. Does NOT require using an armband - only tiny player with waist clip. 2. FM radio/tuner. 3. The unit has 1 GB of memory = tons of tunes. 4. Supports loads of formats.
Weaknesses: NONE!
Summary: This is the perfect MP3 player for runners. I say this because it is just about the only tiny (and boy is it tiny) MP3 player on the market that has a body/belt clip instead of the non ubiquitous armband/neckstrap cop out solution that most manufacturers seem to employ (and which saves them an arm and a leg on manufacturing and creates a secondard revenue stream for them by selling accessories). I've owned at least 10 MP3 players and all of the best for exercising and running were those that had belt clips. Way to go Samsung for hanging in there with such a model. And, it is really nice to have the FM Radio for those times when you just need a break from the songs.

Strengths: Small size, clip-on convenience.
Weaknesses: Fm reception, software, user manual.
Summary: As this is my first mp3 player, my inexperience may contribute to some of the negative impressions I have. The manual doesn't guide one through the setup procedure very well-you have to jump between sections, and important points are added almost as an afterthought(i.e. tips on naming files).

However, once I muddled through my first attempts to setup the player and got it done properly, I have been pleased with the result. The controls are well-placed, it sounds great and the clip-on works well for me. I'm liking it more with each use.

2 Star ReviewUnique MP3 design
Strengths: Smallness.Lots of EQ settings, Good Bass enhancements settings.
Weaknesses: Neckstrap is connected to earphones and cannot be separated. Short battery life. Radio reception is not sensitive enough. Mic is not sensitive enough for lectures.
Summary: Nice design. Too bad the battery life is shorter than the stated 10hrs. Tried to record multiple lectures in one day but the battery did not last 8hrs. The included earphones are not very good (poor bass response).

I'd like the neckstrap to be separated from the cheap earphones but there's no way to use the included neckstrap but yet remove the earphones because the earphones are part of the neckstrap. So if you want to use your own better earphones, and still want to use the included neckstrap, you'll end you looking silly.

Samsung should include a 110V USB charger...otherwise you'll need a computer to charge the MP3 player via USB.

Strengths: Lithium Polymer battery gives long-life in a small package. The integrated headphone/usb/power interface is cool and also keeps size down. Has a display, unlike the iPod Shuffle.
Weaknesses: The backlight on the display never shuts off; it seems like batteries might last even longer if it did.
Summary: This tiny, stylish player from Samsung is, as of early 2k6, definitely one of the best flash players on the market. The only players I know of that can compete with it for title of smallest mp3 player are the notable MobiBlu cube and the not-so-noteworthy iPod Shuffle (which has a clunky old USB interface and no display). The user interface is pretty easy to use. 4 buttons, plus a push-button/toggle switch for volume and menu navigation make changing settings a pretty intuitive process-- a good thing, becuase there are quite a few to set. I found the eq settings to be robust, and more than I expected from such a tiny device.

Strengths: Small and convient, sounds it clear and FM radio works pretty well
Weaknesses: software: need a cd ripper
Summary: So pleased that I am buying another YP-F1Z for my teenage son. I believe he will enjoy taking this along instead of a CD player. I like that I can switch to FM radio, add delete music when necessary.

Strengths: Small, easy to use and bring, have a FM-radio, build in clip
Weaknesses: battery life, doesn't play mpeg4 files, display does not have background light
Summary: This is a great player if you wan't a small one with a display. It is easy to transfer files to it by just simply drag and drop them to the player using windows explorer. The only thing I can complain about is the battery life. I havn't been able to make it last for 10 hrs (like the description said) even though I followed the instructions in the manual for extending battery life. Also, since the battery is buil-in it requires access to a computer in order to load it.

Strengths: Built-in clip; small size; very lightweight; lots of features; great headphones
Weaknesses: short battery life
Summary: I looked for a long time for an MP3 player - I'm a runner and I didn't want to strap one to my arm. I love the built-in clip - I clip it on to my shorts and away I go. The sound in the headphones is really good. The 1G size is great - I have yet to fill it up. The buttons are easy to maneuvre when I'm running. The only drawback is the battery life. I agree with other reviewers - I have yet to get to 10 hours, as indicated by SamSung. Other than that, this is a perfect player.
