Read More Description: The 27HLV95 delivers the ultimate in convenience by combining a 27" HD LCD display with a built-in progressive scan, side-mounted, slot loading DVD player that takes up practically no extra room at all. No need to worry about having enough space for both a TV and DVD player. Toshiba made this television fully digital cable ready (DCR). You can receive digital cable stations without a cable box by contacting your cable provider, ordering a CableCARD, and then inserting the card into the CableCARD slot on your television. CableCARDs can be easily changed, allowing this television to be used with virtually any cable company. Also featured on all Toshiba Integrated HDTVs is TV Guide On Screen. It combines programming from each of the television's internal tuners (ATSC and QAM) into one, easy-to-read on-screen program guide. TV Guide On Screen makes it quick and easy for you to locate desired programs, and is a crucial feature for ease of use with digital cable. Full broadcast stereo sound provides quality audio. An MTS (Multi-Channel Television Sound) decoder enables the television to accept and decode a broadcast stereo signal. Unlike some systems that delete dbx, MTS provides the full quality of the original stereo broadcast. SAP (Secondary Audio Program) enables the reception of bilingual broadcasts (when available). That's nice, right? But if for you image is everything, you'll be glad to know this Cinema Series TheaterWide Toshiba provides a stunning 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) native resolution picture. It's perfect for viewing high definition and standard television signals, as well as DVD movies. PixelPure AT (Adaptive Technology) includes Motion Adaptive De-Interlacing, Adaptive MPEG Processing, Adaptive Contrast Enhancement, and Adaptive Color Enhancement, all critical elements to deliver the consistently high quality picture you expect from a Toshiba television. Strengths: Internal CD/DVD Player, internal HD and analog tuners, internal cable box card slot, wall mountable, no external devices making clutter.
Weaknesses: Haven't found one yet
Summary: Here was the goal before I started looking for something. We wanted a TV in the bedroom so we could watch more DVD movies, TV, etc. We always found ourselves crammed on the couch, when relaxing in the bed might be a little nicer. Also, I get my TV signal off the air only, with a nice view to the south where 2 big cities are. I have a big antenna on the house now and get a great analog reception. I also found out we get great digital signals including FREE HD reception. Anyone can get great digital signals through the air as long as your analog signal is pretty good. A $20-$50 signal booster on your coax cable leading to your antenna is the perfect trick. We have a small bedroom with perfect wall space. The wife wanted a flat LCD and nothing else. So I had to get everything internal so no additional DVD players on the dresser. Toshiba is virtually the only company offering a widescreen LCD with DVD and most importantly a HD tuner, GREAT. I was origionally looking at the Toshiba 23HLV85 but no HD tuner inside that. Being this 27" (Toshiba also makes an identical 32") is the only one like it on the market I had to like the looks of it. Fortunately, I LOVE THE LOOKS OF IT! We've had tis TV now for a few weeks and love it. Everything is internal and the HD reception is GREAT. This is an ideal set for anyone looking for this to be your primary set in a smaller room or ANY bedroom. If your looking for FREE HD reception like me or you want to get rid of your ugly external cable box, this set works. You just take your cable card out of the cable box and insert into the back of this set I think. I don't get cable. This is the way TVs are going anyway, you might as well start with it now. Enjoy.

Strengths: Built in DVD eliminates remoote, and wires!
Cable Card eliminates Cable Box and wires!
Weaknesses: None, this is a great TV
Summary: Excellent picture, convenient size, stand rotates as well!
Having the cable card and the DVD player built in eliminates having to run a ton of wires and the need to use 3 remotes to watch cable TV! Saves me from having explain to the wife and kids how to use the TV set!

Strengths: AWESOME picture quality, great features, good sound, remote gives you full control, lighted remote is helpful, and the timer is nice when you fall asleep during a movie, the built in DVD player rocks.
Weaknesses: None that I have found.
Summary: Outstanding product...would highly recommend to anyone that is looking for a nice size wall mounted 27". I have alot of Toshiba products and they are dependable and have the long lasting qualities you want in electronic products. The unit wall mounted with the cable and power wires conseled gives it a great look...all you see is TV and no ugly wires.

Strengths: EXCELLENT PICTURE QUALITY.
EASY TO USE BUILT IN DVD PLAYER.
HAS ALL THE HOOK UPS YOU WIIL EVER NEED TO CONNECT OTHER EQUIPMENT.
RICH LOOKING CASE WITH SVIVEL STAND WHICH YOU CAN PLACE ANYWHERE.
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: 2005-12-05 17:12:28 I have another larger Toshiba television which I love so I know Toshiba is the way to go when it comes to televisions.
This is a very reliable unit and the quality is unbelievable. If you are looking for a light 27 inch LCD HDTV for your bedroom this Toshiba is the one you want. The built in DVD player very easy to operate from the remote control. Its like being at the movies in the comfort of your bed. It has all the hook ups you will ever need for all your other audio or video equipment. When it comes to technology Toshiba is the best and it won't go out of date for a long time. I highly recommend the Toshiba 27HLV95 for everyone.

Strengths: Great picture quality, good sound, built in DVD player, looks nice! Good size for bedroom TV.
Weaknesses: I liked the cable card feature, so I could receive digital cable TV signals without renting a cable box. However, I did have some trouble with the cable card compatibility with the Toshiba 27HLV95.
Summary: Overall, great product. As noted above, I did have trouble with the cable card compatibility with the Toshiba 27HLV95. After the Time Warner cable card was installed, at times I would receive only digital stations, or just analog stations. I called Toshiba technical support, and they said I needed a firmware upgrade. A technican came out (at no charge) and upgraded the firware and now it is working fine. Also, the remote control seems slow.

Strengths: Good contrast ratio. Blacks look pretty good in dark scenes. Easy set-up. Outstanding value for the price.
Weaknesses: Response time for remote control is slow. TV Guide is not very user-friendly.
Summary: I am still in awe of the picture quality of HD content broadcast OTA. Go ahead and buy one of the calibration DVDs, (Avia or DVD Essentials) and calibrate each input - it makes a world of difference. The colors are rich, and I saw no motion artifacts watching football.
If you plan to use the composite video output of the HD tuner to record OTA broadcasts, spend the extra money on better cables, and if possible, use some other output from your recording device other than composite video. This TV is sharp looking, and the cable management system makes for a clean set-up.
The built-in progressive DVD player looks as good or better than more expensive stand alone units. Also one less box and cable clutter to deal with, since it's built-in.
This TV is so good, I just bought a larger version for another room. I can't comment on the QAM/Cable tuner since I don't have cable or satellite, nor the NTSC tuner, since all my HD stations are on UHF. I used the Zenith Silver Sensor table top antenna to get stations up to 35 miles away, along with an inline antenna amplifier.

27 HD LCD
Strengths: HD receiver and built in progressive scan DVD
Weaknesses: TV guide option
Summary: For those of us with TIVO and DTV, we don't require TV guide function. Kind of sluggish. The tv itself has a nice picture with DVD. Regular digital still seems a bit pixelated. But, I have not hooked up the HD direct tv receiver. And am only using S video. So, hopefully when I get all my cables set up correctly the picture will be phenomenal. Good size for small to medium bedroom. I would not like this set for my primary TV. oh, when using the light function on the remote, it makes a strange humming sound. Different.
