Strengths: Easy Setup, Built-In Speakers OK, Stand Included.
Weaknesses: No built-in tuner.
Summary: My first Plasma TV, and I must say I love the large format and deep colors this TV produces. The Built-in speakers are more than adequate for normal watching, but they lack the fullness of a component stereo (duh!) Most people who would buy this fine Monitor will likely have a decent Surround sound system anyway. When watching a DVD, you'll want to crank out the sound.
There are several useful choices for wide-screen viewing and they're all rather well thought-out. The distortion is minimized by combining zoom-in and left/right elongation. So the picture looks "natural" from most of all of these choices, you just have to figure out which part of the picture you can stand to cut out (top or bottom) The "Full" setting creates the most distortion and is unusable in my opinion, unless the broadcast aspect ratio is pure 16:9. Of course you can watch it using the "natural" setting which shows the 4:3 aspect ratio with grey bars on each side (Yuck!) Why buy a wide-screen if you're going to do that? I got used to the three different Widescreen displays which are easily selectable using the intuitive remote.
I set my DVD to stream 480p and the Monitor automatically picked the proper settings (nice!) Set the Monitor for "Film" and the graininess of the DVD film was minimized (way to go Toshiba!) The colors from the DVD were displayed beautifuly, deep, rich and crisp.
I really enjoyed watching football on this baby. I set the viewing type for "Sports." This was more than adequate for displaying the commercial broadcast - would've been nice to see it in High-Def. My next purchase may just be an outboard HDTV tuner.
