For example, the 27HL95 has two built-in HDTV tuners -- one for over-the-air broadcasts, and one for cable TV signals. To take full advantage of the cable tuner, request a CableCARD from your local service provider. The CableCARD actually fits into a rear-panel slot on the TV and replaces your set-top box. It simplifies hookup and day-to-day use, and usually provides a slightly clearer picture. At this point in the digital TV transition, there are still lots of analog signals on regular broadcast and cable TV. Toshiba's sophisticated digital video processing circuitry "upconverts" those signals for a smoother, more natural look. Standard TV signals also benefit from Toshiba's adjustable CableClear noise reduction. CableClear employs the TV's 3D digital comb filter to compare video frames and determine the extent of any noise. Then, appropriate amounts of noise reduction and sharpness adjustment are applied, to reduce graininess and ghosting and keep the picture clear. This 27" TV is compact enough for an office, den or bedroom, or even some kitchens. It includes a versatile set of audio/video connections, including composite, S-video, and component video jacks, plus an HDMI digital input for use with the growing number of HDMI-equipped components (DVD players, HDTV tuners, and A/V receivers).
