Strengths: Small, fast, capable, reliable Mac.
Weaknesses: Battery will only last a little over 3 hours after a year and a half of use.
Summary: With OSX Tiger, OS 9 Classic(maybe not as stable as actual OS 9), ultra-reliable compact design, Airport, CDRW(although you can get an external DVD writer), slot loading DVD/CDRW, iMovie, iPhoto, AppleWorks, and Bluetooth with all of these and more plus ease of use, I can't figure out why anyone would use a PC. The price on these have gone down so much you can't go wrong. As for the over heating part after prolonged use as mentioned by some users, I think they block the bottom and back ventilation so much their computer can't breathe. I liked the old iBook G3, but the only thing I miss from my G3 is the keyboard(transluscent white) and case. I know the newer Core Duo iBooks are faster but with the G4 speed and additional Ram, this computer can go toe to toe in day to day use. Buy it while you still can. I know I will.

Strengths: Very fast laptop. Also very reliable. Has two usb 2.0 ports as well as FireWire. Long battery life and bright screen.
Weaknesses: Can get VERY warm in your lap, but not uncomfortable. Can bog down sometimes under heavy load, even with 1.25 gigs of ram.
Summary: I love this thing. I am a recent convert from Windows and don't plan on going back ANY time soon. This laptop has converted me from a Windows drone to a Mac fan. (The ads had nothing to do with it.) This laptop has also proved very reliable, won't crash even when I try to get it to. Apple outdid themselves with this machine.

Strengths: Small size, very nice interface, Mac OS X, good amount of memory, cd burner, dvd drive
Weaknesses: decent hard drive space, a bit pricey
Summary: This laptop is a very nice little laptop. Its small size allows you to carry it around easier without hurting your shoulder. One bad thing about it is that it tends to get quite hot after long periods of use.

Strengths: Compact and portable, very light, long battery life, great display, worth every penny.
Weaknesses: speakers do not have very good quality
Summary: I have used Windows for 8 years and a few months ago I finally decided to switch to Apple because of word of mouth; I am completely satisfied with my purchase especially from purchasing it without touching an Apple Computer before in my life. The 12" LCD display is beauitiful, excellent quality. It has a great battery life ( up to 6 hours) and it's tremendously light (2.2kg). As well as this laptop is a perfect size for your lap; 8.5 inches x 11 inches in size (the size of a normal piece of paper). Because I was overwhelmed of my excellent decision from switching to Mac, I assure that you will to because there is just so much more that you can do with a Mac with ease.

Strengths: Beautiful design, No blue screens of death, easy to setup and maintain.
Weaknesses: Not for gamers, more HDD space needed but upgradable, software incompatibilities with some peripherals.
Summary: I went from a PC to a Mac recently and wow, what a difference. I primarily use this laptop for graphic design so lots of rendering, vectoring and processing were necessary. At first the iBook range only suited my pocket, not the need but when this model was recently released it bridged the gap between the more expensive PowerMac and the weaker iBook. I suspect that a RAM upgrade may be in order after a few months as the hard drive gets more populated but that is easily done and because it reads the 512 in parallel it isn't such an expensive undertaking.
So far I am seriously inpressed with this machine, especially it's 'plug and play' capability with the OS already installed and logging on Wi-Fi etc being really easy. For those who want a larger screen, there is a 14 inch screen model also. But for me, protability was key so i went with this model and haven't regretted it.

Strengths: Small, faster and best choice for traveling!
Weaknesses: Only one problem is that the CD drive is a bit noisy.
Summary: As a student, I am very happy with my iBook. It is small in size, lightweight, and has very good battery life (about 4 hours). The built-in AirPort Extreme WiFi is a huge plus. This iBook is fast enough for most of tasks, and has a good suite of pre-installed easy-to-use productivity software.

Strengths: Lightweight,
Fast,
Clear and brilliant picture,
Plenty of ports,
Good battery life,
Weaknesses: Media Drive not upgradable to a DVD burning superdrive
Summary: I had been looking for an apple notebook for quite some time and got a great deal so I jumped on this one. While I've only had it for a couple of weeks I've already installed software (Microsoft Office for Macs) which works great. Watched movies, very clear picture and good sound. Loaded pictures onto it, very fast connection. I have yet to play games on it but so far there is nothing really bad to report. It's much lighter than my older notebook, quieter and so far seems rather durable. The keyboard is tinier than what I am used to but I only got the 12.1" screen so that is to be expected.

Strengths: portable,nice design..it's Apple!
Weaknesses: NO date and time memory when the battery is taken off; easy to get dirty
Summary: Have had it for half a year, i found myself now indulged in my new accompany.
For those who are thinking a switch from windows to Mac,you got to be well prepaird for a certain adjusting period.
At least,it's not an easy switch for me. Say, i might have spent about one month or even longer to get used to the icons and the operation system. I got frustrated at the very beginning and even from time to time came back to my old windows.
After i am more comfortable with my Mac, i began to install some applications which i often used in windows. Some of this applications have Mac version, like Office, some don't. I have tried every possible means to make my Mac more familiar. Firefox works well, Msn Mac version works, Skype and some others. Although most of them have a much hign version in Microsoft and perform a lot better, i could still survive myself in the brand new envirement.
This ibook is light and portable, you can carry it anywhere as long as you got a sleeve or a case. It is the right size for me, a real notebook to be carried with everyday.
So far only question i have is its date and time display function. When the battery is taken off from its body, the computer lost its memory. I have to correct it each time when i turn on my computer. This really bothers me, anyway, it may just be a notice: you have had another blessing day!
I love my ibook, and would recommend it to anyone.

Strengths: portable, nice design, beautiful picture, fast
Weaknesses: Comparetively heavy to this size of other made, getting hot after short time
Summary: I got my ibook last Christmas as a gift from my husband. He knows how much i like Apple stuff although i have yet decided to shift from my long time used PC to Mac.
It was really not an easy experience for somebody who is not a computer guru to adapt to a new operation system. I got frustrated since the first day i worked on it. Fortunately, practice makes perfect, the more i work on my ibook, the more i like it.
This Ibook G4 is a base model for Mac starter,it has more basic feather you expect: dashboard, stickers, notebook, imovie, itune,garageband..all of those feathers are just under one click down in the bottom dock with very creative icons. Further, i installed firefox to take over its safari, Thunderbird to its own mailbox and they turn out working well. I have tried all the possible means to arm my ibook to the teeth,it occupied a lot of space in my hard drive but the speed still good.
One thing i have no idea is that it declares that it has 40gb but i can only find 20gb before i did anything to my ibook, got to consult the apple customer service.
It is a very nice computer as anyother reviewers said. But one or two thing i disagree is that it is not as light as other made in its size and it generates more heat too after a short time use.

Strengths: Portable, great for a new mac user, Somewhat affordable
Weaknesses: No SuperDrive option...
Summary: Great "base" notebook from apple. Very much in demand (as mine was stolen) If you want something that works well, does what you want it to, and is portable this one's for you, but if you want a SuperDrive or some more power move up. (only reason i gave 4 stars is because i would not purchase again because I am moving up but this is an excellent product for what it is).

Strengths: Small, light, USB 2.0, Bluetooth, Airport, Apple
Weaknesses: No DVD burner, gets hot after long periods of use, slow with stock RAM
Summary: My charter school has a 1 to 1 laptop program, and this was the computer they chose. Good choice. I've never had a problem with mine, and would like to purchase one (i can't keep the one i'm using). It's kinda slow with the stock RAM, but after upgrading it, I'm sure i would have no problems. Great computer
