Great Pic, but Lousy Sound
Strengths: Great Picture Quality
Weaknesses: Sound is extremely "Tinny", you'd need to attach a separate sound device to get decent quality sound, but that defeats the purpose of a portable size unit.
Summary: I originally bought this to go in my kitchen to primarily play DVD's, possibly even watch tv (w/o cable hookup). When I first used this unit, I tried the DVD feature, which worked fine as far as picture quality, but sounded like I was listening to it in a tin can. I tried to rewind a scene slightly, but it would only go back to the beginning of the whole scene. It wouldn't advance slightly either, only advancing to the next scene.
Hooked up to cable, it works fine, but without cable (none in my kitchen), there is NO reception. Aparently, you need a separate antenna for this, but it appears you'd have to micky mouse an antenna to hook up to this unit; no exterior antenna connection available.
I also tried it to play games. It worked fine, but again the sound quality is horrible.
I'm going to return this unit & try to find another with better sound quality.
Overall, if you don't care about feeling like your watching/listening in a tin can, this unit is fine. If you're even the tiniest bit fussy about sound quality, pass on this one & go with a better known brand like Sony.
