Good all around camera!
Strengths: Kodak's easy to use firmware, software, interface, german lens (10X zoom), SLR 'feel' and design, 2.2" LCD screen, good grip, good color-sharpness on photos, comes with dock & rechargeable battery.
Weaknesses: Viewfinder a little grainy, noisy, lag time between shots, proprietary battery, no hot shoe, does not record MPEG-2 video at the current 30 fps like other models, no PictBridge.
Summary: 2006-01-23 21:06:58 With megapixels increasing at every new month, this 5 MP model has alot going for it...but what is it...an SLR by look or a point and shoot? Truly, it is a point and shoot with advance features and an SLR "look." The pictures the camera takes are great. It allows alot of functionality from full manual to fully automatic. The movies with sound has no limit on the time which is great however, it does not record with such resolution as models out there that can record at 30 fps which produce smoother video. There are attachments available for the fixed lens. The constuction while made of plastic still feels solid. The software that comes with the camera is really second to none with regards to ease of use and editing. For example, you can eliminate "red-eye" with a click of the option rather than circling the area and going through a string of commands. While I do like the true SLR cameras, it is a fraction of the price of one but tries to give the feel of one. If on a budget, it may be the right alternative. HOWEVER, I MUST MENTION THAT THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT CAMERA FOR THOSE LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS...IT IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE LARGEST WEAKNESSES...NOT ONLY WILL IT BOUNCE IN AND OUT OF FOCUS, BUT THE PHOTOS WILL BE PRETTY MUCH USELESS EVEN WITH THE BUILT IN FLASH...
